My SiriusXM Guardian is coming up in two weeks (happy 1 year Jeep anniversary to me!). The price does seem pretty high -- the only thing I occasionally use is Remote Lock (walk away after street parking in the city, forget if you hit lock on the fob, peace of mind hitting lock from your phone...if only it could roll up windows too lol).

Got my first letter asking to renew. Like others, I've gotten the SirusXM *radio* renewal letters for months, some even including 2 year deals at this point. However while it's sorta nice as backup, I don't care that much about satellite radio to pay for it vs. use my own collection.

Is the consensus they won't do the same begging on Guardian? Still true they won't go down at all? I really just want that one feature.

I dug for a while and wasn't able to get any discount. You can get the radio discounted heavily but they have no reason to "compete" for these connected services - they have a total monopoly.

Ugh obviously not what I wanted to hear. I guess I should let it expire and see what happens, Black Friday? I want to have hope for something.

Unfortunately, yes. When it comes to SiriusXM radio, the company has enough subscribers whereby they can afford to discount, Guardian is a whole other product/story and I have yet to hear of anyone getting a discount on renewal.

Let Guardian expire for about a week. That's when they started sending me the 50% off offers. I didn't bother taking it because I'm going to trade this one in shortly and will get a new 1 year trial on the new Jeep.

Always call to negotiate with Sirius/XM. My wife's free trial on her car for the radio just ended and they wanted some ridiculous amount. I called to tell them know and I ended up locked in for $3/month for 2 or 3 years. Not sure if they would do remote services for that cheap but doesn't hurt to try.

Well I let the Guardian lapse. Got my first discounted offer in the mail, "12 months for the price of 10". For the lowest tier that ends up being $130/year. However that seems to match the price others have posted as a discount for paying for the full year up front, so doesn't seem like a real discount.

I let mine expire for about 3 days and got an offer via email for Convenience + Security @ $60/6mo. This is less than half the "regular" rate. I had Convenience + Security before, which would've been 155.88/6mo at their current pricing.

You may be able to call and use this offer as leverage. I hadn't planned to renew, but if you do you may want to use a temporary/virtual CC so they can't auto-renew on you.
