My new 2024 2 door Rubicon came with single rate springs and the ride quality is excellent for a stock vehicle. I'm looking to do a 2.5" lift with dual rate Metal Cloak springs. Metal Cloak gives an option for 2 door vs 4 door which is important for the weight to ensure the dual rate portion of the spring can function. I continue to add sprung weight with skids, bumpers, roof rack, etc. My rig is a daily driver and weekend warrior. In your experience is the Metal Cloak dual rate 2 door version designed to accomadate additional sprung weight, or will the upper portion compress to it's limits with typical add ons and become a single rate spring?

I have the 3.5” Game changer kit on my 2-door JL, and If you’re going to carry a few hundred lbs, upgrade the rear springs to the next size, trust me. 😉. I have the 4.5” spring in the rear, which is a stronger load rating and it sits level even when light, but won’t sag under load. Call the office and they can set you up.

This pic is empty and it looks the same once full… (maybe a slight dip in the rear)

My observation of my Metalcloak springs is that they use a dual rate spring to primarily keep the springs tight in the spring pads when using extremely long shocks extended to full droop, with the high rate section carrying normal loads. Mine seem to be compressed in the lower rate section, just setting empty.

MC dual rate spring is as Roaniecowpony has said the first rate is just a soft portion that fully compresses in order to keep the spring tight even when fully flexed.

Rock Krawler has triple rate springs which incorporate a compression zone to keep the spring tight when flexing out, a ride zone, and an overload zone.
