I personally don't have a problem getting in and out of my 2018 Rubicon, however my can't get in easily. Are there any steps that would allow me to exit without the step getting in my way. I just drop down without touching my rock rails. I don't want to be forced into using step if I don't need them.

I installed the Rockslide Engineering step sliders on mine because the one inch higher than my last one was too much for my wife to get in easily. I would step over the step at first because I was so used to just getting in, but actually started using the steps now. You can install the optional doors off kit and you could turn the switch off for your side so that it wouldn't drop the step when you open the door if you really didn't want to use it.

Thanks for the thread. How do those side steps compared to the top of the line amps?

I haven't dealt with AMP steps, so no input there. I know that so far (only about two months that I've had them on the 392), I'm happy with the RSE Step Sliders.

I just looked up the Rock-slide Engineering steps they seem way better than the AMP's! It also looks like you can put a mudflap on the front fender and not have it interfere with the step. What model did you go with? Thanks for the helpful info!

I have, and am a fan, of the Rockhard 4x4s (<--Link).
Great mounting while being close enough to the body but still giving a step for the Mrs.

I installed the RSE steps as well. My girlfriend is short and would not get in the Jeep because it “hurt her back” jumping in. Since installing, i have come to like them as well.

I have a 23MY 4-door, so I went with https://rockslideengineering.com/product/jl-4-door-step-slider-2-box-set/

I also got the optional step Slider light kit: https://rockslideengineering.com/product/step-slider-light-kit/

Optional door delete kit: https://rockslideengineering.com/product/step-slider-door-delete-kit/

And optional skid plates: https://rockslideengineering.com/product/step-slider-skid-plate-5/

I’ve been pondering a similar issue after installing some deeper steps in my Jeep for the wife… how crazy/weird would it be to just put the step on the passenger side and a Rub rock rail on the driver side?

to be clear, this would just for looks. I would make me happier whan I walk towards the Jeep to get in, nothing else!

Rockslide Eng are the real deal...all steel. I had them on my JK and loved them. Amp are aluminum offer zero protection.

I have the RSE steps as well and love them. I also called RSE before I bought them to see if they can take a hit. They claim they can be used as rocksliders as they come from the factory if you only use them occasionally but if you use them as real rocksliders they have an additional "shield" they recommend. I don't think they stick out any farther than the orginal slider that came on my Rubicon but the step does get in the way of just being able to step out onto the ground when it's deployed.

Also... your have these choices of well made steps:
https://www.lodoffroad.com/products/2018-jl-destroyer-series-4-door-rock-sliders

https://www.rockhard4x4.com/product_p/rh-90124.htm

Here's a whole thread on side steps:
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/side-steps-running-board-recommendations.118168/

I honestly would spend the extra $ on the Rockslide Eng electric steps...like I said above I had them on my JK and not a problem and loved them. I plan on probably doin them on my JL 392 this spring.

Get one of these for the passenger side.
