The 1st dent/scratch always hurts the most. Good news is that the 2nd one won't be a big deal. Sorry to hear that it happened so early after owning it.

The sheet metal on the JL is all aluminum. You’ll get more dings as time goes on. It’s all personal preference, but I see dings and scratches as character on a Jeep. That dent would bother me on my challenger, but not at all on my woodland pinstriped Jeep.
The tub is not aluminum. Doors, tailgate and fenders are.

On one hand, I'm all for leaving the first scratch/dent on a Jeep, as it makes all the future ones more tolerable and adds character.

On the other hand, knowing myself, I'd probably get this dent fixed. I bought cosmetic damage coverage from the dealership that should cover this kind of thing, and I also have $100 deductible comprehensive insurance policy that would also cover it, so odds are I would get this fixed since it would be free or cheap. but if I had to pay a body shop full price to fix it I probably wouldn't.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m thinking I’ll just leave it and the ocd in me about it will eventually fade away as the new wears off. Can’t wait to start adding mods for sure. Been waiting years to join the wrangler family!

I’ve had good luck with a PDR tool from Amazon. If there is no crease and no paint chipped, I’ve been able to get small dents out through a few YouTube videos and the tool. I’ve successfully done 4 or 5 dents to perfection, 1 dent to ‘it’s at least better’ between our two vehicles. Spent under $50 on the kit

Rock most likely came from your own tire. happens. A LOT

have someone pdr it. $100-300 and you will never even know it happened. Well worth the money.

Well, it’s a Jeep. If ya USE it as a Jeep, it’s going to get the occasional ding/scratch. That’s the price you pay for off road. If you.re a mall crawler get it fixed. If you are going to do Jeep stuff, ignore it. Guy down the road bought a new JLU that the dealer had lifted and equipped with big, wide tires on custom wheels (( a big $$$ “upgrade?). He’d had it just a few weeks and stopped by complaining about how his new Jeep had rock chips “all over”. Uh, Sam, there IS a reason vehicles have fenders. When your tires stick out way beyond the fenders, gravel is going to beat the hell out of your paint. You’ve got a gravel drive over 1/4 mile long and very aggressive tires, what did you Think would happen? Some peoples kids?

If you have to circle the issue you either need a better phone or to not worry about the issue.
