Hey everyone. This may seem like a stupid question but I just bought a brand new Wrangler, my first ever, and while driving down the road yesterday, I head a loud pop when a car that drove by me threw up a rock and it hit my side panel. Now I’m left with this dent that really isn’t noticeable unless you are at an angle. I know I’m ocd about it but will leaving this cause any paint damage down the line?

You have already customized it! It looks like it didn’t gouge the paint, so you are fine. A paintless dent repair could fix that easy peasy. All that really matters is if it is bothering you a lot.

This can only be answered by you and what your tolerance is.

For example I was at AOAA thisbweekernd with my offroad crew and did the flowing "mods" (aka pinstripes) to my paint and wheels and I'm totally fine with it

Welcome to the Wranglerhood!

With zero effort and no luck needed at all, in a matter of couple years, you will have many of those. Including some nice chips and cracks on your windshield.

The secret is, don't get them repaired EVER! Put all your money towards modifications. And if you ever get tired of looking at your heavily dinged up Wrangler, visit the local mud pot and put a nice coating of that brown gold on there. You won't even notice the damage anymore! ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m thinking I’ll just leave it and the ocd in me about it will eventually fade away as the new wears off. Can’t wait to start adding mods for sure. Been waiting years to join the wrangler family!

The sheet metal on the JL is all aluminum. You’ll get more dings as time goes on. It’s all personal preference, but I see dings and scratches as character on a Jeep. That dent would bother me on my challenger, but not at all on my woodland pinstriped Jeep.

Your choice but I'd get a PDR person to fix it...

As long as the paint isn't compromised, you shouldn't need to worry about anything. At least not until your hinges start corroding. :CWL:

Nice thing is you found where it hit after hearing the "clang" noise of the rock ?

My OCD drove me nuts for a few days trying to find where a few rocks had bounced off the sides of mine a few weeks ago. I'd forgotten about it until I read this post...thanks a lot ?

*wanders off to look for those rock chips/dents*

I had a dent on driver side door panel. Bought a suction cup and it helped a bit. I didn’t want spend money on professional paintless dent repair, have been fine with it.

?? yeah, my bad. On the flip side it’s good to know I’m not alone with the OCD. You’ve given me hope that I’ll forget it’s there.
