Shiny Black Handles

My Jeep has these shiny black plastic handles on the doors that look super cheap to me. They look like they’re add-ons. Are they just held on with double sided tape? Are they removable without making a big mess?

Did you buy it used? Did you pull at the edges to see if they are on with double sided tape? OEM door handles are not shiny, and they get more dull over time as they weather.

Most likely they are aftermarket covers that are held on with tape. Pictures would help us confirm.

However, to test, get some dental floss and run it under there - dental floss is a great safe way to unstick that 3M tape that's usually used on stuff like that.

Sounds like you probably have crapola / Chinese manufactured , handle veneers on your door handles..

IF when you peel off the crapola veneers, you may have/see un-repairable damage to the handles.

Rather then buying Mopar replacement handles do consider replacing the handles with Made in the USA full replacement handles (they are not veneers) manufactured by forum sponsor @Threedom .

The Threedom custom design replacement handles come in different textures and are easy to install. I installed Threedom handles over a year ago and they are terrific.. I get so many positive commments about the handles when people see and feel them...
