I’ve noticed over the last few weeks that when driving up a steady incline in the 40-65MPH range while in hybrid mode that my Jeep seems to have issues figuring out what gear it needs to be in. It only seems to happen when my battery has some charge left. Part of the issue seems to be that the Jeep can’t decide whether it can run on electric or if it needs the ICE. I’ve seen it shift from 5th gear quickly up to 7th gear then down to 6th back to 7th back down to 5th. Then the engine will turn off briefly and it will run on battery before the engine quickly turns back on and again starts shifting the same way. I’m steady on the throttle. It shifts fine on level ground. The Jeep has 45,000 miles on it. No other issues. I’ve had the B9A recall fixed and was told I didn’t need a new battery. Thankfully I have a maxcare warranty. Could one of the updates somewhere along the line caused this? I’ve been driving on the same roads for the 3 years I’ve had the Jeep and only noticed this recently.

I had something similar happen-on the highway, stuck behind someone, going right around 50mph. It just kept bouncing in and out of electric (hybrid mode) and shifting between 6 and 7. As soon as I was able to get around the other car it was fine. Just seemed like a glitchy shift point. I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Just as a follow up in case anyone else comes across this thread, my high-voltage battery was failing. It ended up needing to be replaced. No issues since.
