Looking for some help to see if anyone else ever had this problem. 2018 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler JL 4 door and the service shifter light comes on all the time. It’s been to the dealer about 8 times and they can’t seem to find anything. Changed the battery, changed the shifter, checked all the grounds the Chrysler said to check. Check wiring behind the front tires and plugs throughout the under carriage. It seems to trip the service shifter light always when turning left. Most times it will cycle through all the lights on the dash, lose power steering and the engine light stays on. Seen a few other people having problems that are the same but never a fix to what was don’t. Let me know if you ever had this happen and what was your fix. Thanks

Might be a spred terminal on a connection where it is barely making contact or the pin might be loose ... Id have to look at the schematics to see where

Having the exact same issues here..
At dealer all week,
1st - Checked connectors and performed a TSB that required the steering wheel removal.
Picked up car, imeadiatly set a code (was odd code about remote and low voltage) They reset it and I took the Jeep home.. Within 5 miles it started up with Service Shifter again.. Took it back..

2nd - Chrysler engineering then had them inspect and re-seat all harness connections. Road tested 6 times without issue. Kept it a second night to test drive again the next day. All looked good and no codes were set.
Picked up tonight, within 15 miles same issue. Back at dealer (now for the 3rd time). This time i saw the voltmeter was dipping below 12v. Hoping this gets sorted soon, Jeep is 3 weeks old and only 1800 miles. Hope to hear something more tomorrow. Snow coming, loaner Renegade is going to get a workout...

Any outcome on these issues? My service shifter light has been coming on intermittently and now my CEL is on. 22k miles and first issues I’ve had

It seems to be a wiring harness issue. I had the same problem. The found a part of the harness was rubbing and causing a short. That was replaced and i havent had an issue since (been 1 day though). The part that is rubbing is up near the front bumper around the swaybar disconnect is what they told me.

Any resolution with this? My 2018 JL has been in shop for 3 weeks with this issue. Shop told me they don't know what to do.

Hey guys
I have been reading this form to see what you guys have found with this issue. I have a 2019 rubicon and it has done the same thing. I took it to the dealer the first time and they said they couldn’t Get it to due it even though it had light 30 codes. They cleared them and said to drive it. My wife took it and was driving it that same day and it done it again. So I told her to record the dash. She lost her steering and it wouldn’t shift to park. Had the service shifter light on with about every other light coming on as well. It went back to the dealer in September 22nd. The service advisor hooked to it and it had 2 pages of codes again and luckily the lights were still on. They have had a star case opened on it and had my Jeep totally apart. They said I wouldn’t want to see it like that. So after a awhile of them still not knowing what is wrong they say they found a problem in my dash. It was suppose to be done today but haven’t heard anything back from them. What scares me is that we drive out Jeep so it gets more miles than average a year on it. My wife drives close to a 80 miles a day for work. They told us that we are out of warranty due to mileage even though we have had the Jeep almost 2 years. (Bought it new). I think stuff like this should be cover because even with the mileage on it we would not have caused this. We don’t do any crazy off roading. They said they are try to get it covered under a good grace. We will see

I recommend you ask them to look for the harness/rub issue i mentioned above... After they found this and replaced / re-routed the harness so it would not happen again its been over a year and I have never had the problem again. I am pretty confident that is the issue. Which makes sense a harness issue can throw all sorts of codes that will have them looking at things that are not actually problems and doing a ton of invasive work on your jeep replacing things to see if that "does it" or not... You may want to just get under it and visually look for any wiring harnesses in the front of the jeep near the steering (moving parts) and look for wear or pinched wires.. I never got a specific answer from my dealer at the time they just told me they found a factory wiring harness that had been worn down and compromised by rub.. They replaced that section and routed it differently. i hope that helps! GL!

We just got it back today. They said the dash harness had some bad plugs and that they could wiggle the plugs and make it do it. So they replaced the whole harness. I will check around the area you said to look at just to make sure. Let’s hope it’s fixed.

I just bought a 21 jeep wrangler willy trim. I4 2.0. I'm having this issue. The closer dealer states there is no codes and no issues. Even though I see the service shift light every so often.

Any update on your dash harness fix? My 2018 has been in 3 separate times so far without any luck, and they are chasing their tail. When I told them about the harness rub, they dismissed me

I (2018 JLUR @39k miles) had similar symptoms 5 days ago. ALL dash lights flashing, warning messages popping up, tones/beeps sounding, loss of power steering, lost shifter control intermittently, lost stability control, vehicle went into "limp" mode intermittently, threw 23 codes while I was on the highway. Took it to the dealer and they viewed all DTC's and U codes. Inspected all harness pin connections, traced circuit failure to harness at front of vehcle where they said it had rubbed against AC condenser and wire was shorting to ground. Rep showed me a picture of the rubbed area on the harness and indeed I saw the cover warn through to the wires and many "pinched" wires but didn't really see any copper showing. I suspect that it may have been intermittent "opens" (broken wires) making contact occasionally.

I just got the jeep back and it seems to be running fine. The receipt says the harness was repaired (not replaced) and I do assume that picture I was shown was of my vehicle damage. I will take a closer look at the repair area this weekend.
