I was driving through Kansa the other day, and the strong cross winds appears to have pushed the flimsy OEM fender liner into my (37in milestar) tires at highway speeds. I didn't hear anything over the wind/road noise until I slowed down while exiting the highway. Thats when I heard the remains of the fender liner rubbing the tire, and I found plastic stands/shavings all over the side of my Jeep.

I've never experienced any rubbing up front while wheeling, so this was a big surprise to me. (2021 Rubicon w/2in Dynatrac lift on 37in milestars. Stock control arms. Icon Rebound 17in Jeep wheels)

Any suggestions on after marker fender liners? I would like to keep the stock body colored fenders.

I zip tied the fender liner to the shock tower/frame to prevent it from rubbing for the remainder of my trip.

This was normal for 21s. Mine did it coming home from the dealer. Zip ties and plastic patch panels fixed mine.

Had one of mine replaced under warranty after a drive across Kansas with 35-40 mph crosswinds. It'll happen again, and I'll upgrade my fender liners.

Welcome to the club. Windy conditions and high temps got mine on 35s. I went with American Adventure Labs.

Same.
104F and 20 mph cross-wind on my '21, stock 33" tires

Used plastic pop-rivets to repair and extend them for better coverage; made a sheet metal clip for the hole in the frame near the back of the wheel and attached the bottom there, No problems since.

Happened to me both sides. Drivers side CO to MO on 70. Passenger side MO to CO on 70.
I didn’t think warranty was worth it since it will just happen again

Oh my god, this is exactly what happened to me on the way home from Moab on Sunday. SUPER HIGH winds and temps in high 90’s. I should have search before I posted! Now for replacement.

Just trying to identify some trends here. Is this only occurring on the higher fenders that are standard on Rubicon? I don't think I've heard of this issue on the low fenders.

I replaced mine when they did this with the Crown Automotive offering. Keeps the stock look and are more stiff than OEM.

I had to cut a chunk of my torn front passenger inner fender after completing Mosquito Pass a couple of weeks ago. Starting on the Alma side, the rocky start to the ascent was in very rough shape and I was bouncing around pretty hard. Thought my wheel may have gone full stuff and caused the problem.

I did not ever consider the wind. But that day was extremely windy so maybe that was the culprit.

Same here with 22 JLRU. I use box cutters to make roadside trims. Had the first one replaced under warranty but it will only keep happening.

Had this happen on driver side last year while driving across NV/CO/UT in the winds. At the time, 1.5” spacer lift and stock Rubi tires. I believe it didn’t help that I had removed the bumper ends from the stock steel bumper. Ended up trimming away the torn material and have yet to do anything else. since I’ve installed Falcon 3.3 shocks and only had to do minimal trimming to reach adjustment levers, so there’s that benefit. I’m really not that bothered by it.
