Had dinner with my 80 year old friend that had an old cabin along the Mojave Trail for 30 years. He mentioned some Jeepers from Dennis Casebier's group wanted to meet with him and talk about an easement. He was going to give them a piece of his mind, although he hasn't owned the place in decades. But the new owner has fenced the entire property, which is now 80 acres and fenced across the old trail route.

He raised the subject of the theft and vandalizing that he put up with all those years. But, I recall being at the place many times and finding things had been stolen. Usually, generators, gas cans or anything else that had some function or value. They shot up the steel vault door he made for the blockhouse where the dirt bikes were kept and stole some old dirt bikes. What they didn't steal, they'd vandalize. They've shot up the windmill, the water tanks, generators, shoot straight through the walls of the cabin. The property is 8 miles from the nearest pavement. It would all happen during the week, since he and friends were there every weekend.

I witnessed some of Casebier's group get confrontational there some 30 odd years ago while they chopped up the sand in his property. I'll just say that no matter what someone drives, it doesn't make them a nice or smart person.

Don't leave anything out you're not willing to lose and don't put your life on the line for stuff.

We use motion sensor trail cams with their own cell account to transmit the pictures real time. If you have cell service where you camp, they should work.

Have everyone in ghillie suits on overwatch in shifts. Unlike this pic, I’d suggest different vantage points while avoiding any crossfire.

Hey Guys,

Can anyone recommend a video security camera I can use for securing our camping site when deep in the woods away from all Wi-Fi and cell service?

I would like it to show the real time video on my apple phone.

Thanks,

Geoff

Some sort of packet radio setup over ham radio might work, but that's a lot of setup, equipment, and batteries on both ends.

A cellular game camera would work. You pay a small monthly fee for cell service and it works great. I use Spartan to get real-time photos from my ranch.
