Have the dealer check antenna connection. I had the issue you describe on a brand new GM. Annoying as hell, but it ended up being a simple fix to an assembly line snafu.
I’d you can find a spot near your dealer where it cuts out you can have them take a different vehicle from their lot to that spot as a test (in case they try to deny there’s a problem).
Receiver, antenna, whatever you want to call it... it plugs into the back of the head unit, and that connection could be loose. That was the issue in my GM.The topic of this thread is "Sat Radio reception". This suggests the OP is having intermittent problems with satellite radio reception?
As far as Sirius/XM satellite radio, that is not impacted at all when you have problems with/remove/change the AM FM "antenna". The "antenna" has really nothing to do with satellite radio reception.
The "satellite radio receiver" is what is used for SiriusXM reception.
On the Wrangler Jk and JL, the "satellite radio receiver" for use with SiriusXM resides up on top of the sound bar/roll bar, just above and behind the front seat passenger.
I do agree with your suggestion to speak to dealer. To test reception in with another JLU.
Reality is, satellite radio can drop out intermittently based on the locale you are in, if you are around high tension lines, etc. so the OP could just be having issues because of this.... Of course, the problem could also be related to an iffy, problematic satellite radio receiver.
.
The dealership has no way to troubleshoot the issue. They are going to hear you out and undoubtedly, order you another satellite radio receiver.Driven it all over the front range. In trees, out of trees, in mountains, etc. No rhyme or reason to the loss in reception. Happens everywhere. Drove the wife's van to the ski resorts this week with the kids and no loss the whole way, similar to how it was in my JK. I wish there was a way to check satellite coverage to see if I'm really getting a signal loss or if it's something else before taking it in.

So that's not it. I didn't have any favorites selected and after putting it to visual only the radio cut out around 70 times in 2.5 hrs.I had the exact same issue, Turns out there is a favorites button on right of the display.Of XM display. Its to tell the radio if your favorite song or band is playing! You tap the button to tell radio you like that song....
Its has an indicator light that flickers for a second in amber, says something like favorite is playing? HUH?
What its default setting is that it can give you a Visual indicator that your band is playing on another channel or visual and audible actually cuts off you audio for a sec so you can go find your favorite song or band.
I changed this in setting to visual only! Never cracked or cut out again!....

That's sort of the way it is; I have the same issues with an FJ with factory XM and the XM radio I installed in another vehicle.Driven it all over the front range. Never had this problem on my JK. Or the wife’s minivan. Usually cuts out on 470 near Chatfield Lake and then going thru the tunnel on 70. The JL cuts out all the time, every day. That's sort of the way it is; I have the same issues with an FJ with factory XM and the XM radio I installed in another vehicle.
