Is anybody else bummed that when it comes to the Sahara when you add either the "anti-spin differential rear axel" or the "Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System" you lose those beautiful 5 spoke polished wheels with gray spokes that come standard on it? It seems to me that they got the wheel selection wrong... the upgraded ones should be standard and the 5-spoke ones should be the upgrade. Is there a mechanical reason why they did this or is this just a grouping decision?

If you lived closer I would offer you a wheel swap as we are not ordering either item that requires the upgrade wheel and we prefer that wheel, but for an $800 option to greet those wheels I'm just going to go aftermarket instead.

Swapping for or purchasing "take offs" might be my best option. Does anybody know if there's a mechanical reason why Jeep requires the upgraded wheels with the "anti-spin differential rear axel" and the "Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System"?

The upgraded wheels are an AT tire instead of the standard wheels AST. I guess they figure if you want either of those options that you would also prefer an AT. However I'm definitely in their anticipated minority where I would want the select-trac but still want AST due to road conditions during winter months

You can relax . It is a glitch in the Configurator. You can keep the five spoke wheels with Selectrac and anti spin diff. You will get AT tires but the upgraded wheels are an extra 895 bucks. How do I know this. Because I was in the same boat as you until the dealer actually placed my order and confirmed the five spoke wheels. I would post a picture of my order for you but I don’t know how.

You’re welcome. I don’t like the upgraded wheels at all but really like the five spoke.

I ordered my Ocean Blue Sahara JLU with stock wheels and A/T tires
Had to pay $595 for the anti spin diff
No selectrac
Got confirmation of 2/23 delivery
I'll believe it when I see it

Working on my Sahara (select trac and locking diff) order with the dealer and he told me the 5 spoke wheel with the Goodyear AT Kevlar is not an option. Options are 5 spoke + Bridgestone Duellers or Upgraded wheels + Goodyear AT Kevlar. Can anyone confirm this?

I looked at some pics on cars.com and I see Sahara’s with all four combinations of wheel/tires.

That is the only option the computer is letting them choose to get LSD and the standard 5 spoke wheels. I was watching the screen with my dealer as he was choosing the options. If you want LSD and the standard 5 spoke rims you will need to go with the AT Bridgestone Duellers.

**edit**

It is my understanding that the factory does not mount the rubber to the rims, they come already mounted which makes sense. So I assume they have those upgraded wheels coming through with the Goodyear and the standard rims are coming through with the AT Bridgestone and Standard tire.

On 01-29-2018, my dealer gave me the option of which tire I wanted since they had ordered both ways on previous orders. Since I went with the Duellers, I am not much help other than their statement.

Way back when it was announced I could’ve sworn they said there were going to be Goodyear AT and then upgraded Goodyear AT Kevlar. So maybe the 5-spoke rims can get Bridgestone or Goodyear and the 7-Spoke can get Bridgestone or Goodyear Kevlar.
