2021 JLUR with growing crack in the windshield. The current windshield is OEM (Safelite looked at repairing the crack and couldn’t since it went all the way to the edge, he pointed out it was not OEM). My insurance does not cover windshields. The quote from Safelite for their glass is approximately $400. Should I spend the extra $$ on the OEM glass - which they have not quoted yet - or will I be ok with their glass? I do not plan on going to the Gorilla Glass, it does not seem worth it.
Thanks!

Will the sticker make it go faster?
Great idea on checking my charge card. I will look at my various discounts to see if any apply.

I several no name windshields on my JK. They were around $200 installed (did not use insurance). They seemed to be just as good as the OEM. No cute pictures around the edges. They seemed to last just as well, and break about the same. I would not use a windshield that not made to US Safety standards. May not be a problem in your area, but we have a few mobile installers using glass from Mexico, No Bueno.

Also, several glass shops gave a large discount if you paid and did not use insurance.

I had a replacement Safelite windshield on our Cherokee Trailhawk and it was good, no issues!

Hey 👋
Unfortunately, I've become an expert with Safelite & 4 Windshield replacements
I can assure you whatever glass they use will be 💯 guarantee as quality as Mopar, without the willys decal.
I'm actually on Safelite glass currently. The previous 3 were the following
1) OEM Replacement, 2) Gorilla Glass, 3) Back to OEM, 4) Safelite
Btw> side note. Because Florida allows glass replacement under comprehensive, free
I didn't understand the insurance companies used those claims against me
Progressive wont insure me. So much for Flo....

I went with OEM because I wanted the little Jeep in the corner. Dumb to pay an extra $200 for it but I'd do it again if the time came.
Because…this…or similar. Every off-road trip we do my wife takes one pic like this 🤷 So when (not if) we replace the windshield it will be OEM

I also wanted my T-rex chasing the Jeep. Worth the money for me.

Your wife is really gonna love my door pockets once those are done and installed.

They did a good job but my warranty paid a lot because my stupid antenna is in the windshield ☹

Just had to replace my JT windshield (sensors, antenna). The 1k deductible was not fun since I’m trying to keep it OE for now…

Ended up with the same gorilla glass even though FCA seems to be changing over to some other brand. I’m sure it will crack again soon! 😂

I’ve never had a windshield crack like that, and it wasn’t exactly a hard hit. We watched it grow over the course of a 3 day road trip!

Oh, read reviews about your local Safelite shop before committing. Ours was really, really bad. Glad we cancelled the appointment and went elsewhere.

Never needed a glass guy until buying the JL. Two windshield replacements, rear glass and hardtop glass. Go with the aftermarket glass. Won't be the last time buying glass.

You can buy the little Willys decals, too. Just sayin ;)
(The first time my windshield broke, losing that corner Jeep was actually my biggest concern, though! There are probably forum posts to prove it. lol)
