IMO - They do a pretty good job deflecting debris. If anything they very outer edge of flares may catch some. But I tried to show how you Dar they stick out on mine. Not much of a step for a 6’ tall guy but woman and children like to use it.
Ok cool. I do want something for a step also but I’m most worried about the flares and rear door hinges.

I feel good about protection with these. Do a quick search on here and you will see plenty of folks with the ROAM product you are looking at as well. May find some good pics

thanks man I'm heading there now. What is the difference between frame mounted and OE mounted steps? is one easier than the other?

If you’re not a big rock crawler frame mounted not needed. Plus hear plenty of horror stories about snapping bolts :(

what does OE mounted mean though? on the bolts form the factory ruby rails vs the frame like the instructions I have seen here.

Correct. Mounts in same position as your current Rubi rails

Side note - that is where the Mopar Perf Rails mount as well.

ok I figured that. I live in the northeast. lots of spray salt on the roads in the winter. I worried about those mounted ones cause they aren't sprayed like the frame mounted ones. I wonder if they will hold up. says on website if you live in the rust belt to get the frame molded ones. so I instantly thought of our winters here. but them I'm worried about the fit cause I have read people having issues with the fit. if the finish isn't an issue I would get the non frame mounted ones cause I wouldn't have that issue I'm asuming.

I get what you are saying. They only offer powder coat OR bed liner on that model. Here in TX wouldn’t worry about it but I see your concern.

As for the Mopar set - they have a great finish and would not be concerned in bad weather, but the Roam appears to have a nicer step.

I think the mopar are awesome but I don’t see them giving me anymore protection than the stock rails even though the ones u have stick out a bit more. Especially in snow season. I do like them a lot though. I like my factory ones a lot too.

I've got a 2019 Rubicon and I'm running the WeatherTech mud flaps specifically made for the Rubi rails. I'm not as concerned about getting crap all over the rear flares as I am about getting slush, salt and dirt sprayed all over the door handles in the winter.

I'm also running a pair of Lund side steps that I custom mounted to the stock Rubicon Rock Rails because the women in my life (my girlfriend and my mother) are both under 5' 5" and they have a hard time getting into the Jeep. The side steps will be even more helpful once I get the lift and larger tires installed ;)

I'll try to get some additional pics and measurements up later tonight. I'm just on my way to the dealership to get my faulty parking brake assembly replaced. Only took them 5 months to get the part in!
