Hello Friends, I just picked up my new Rubicon X manual 2 door that I ordered in October. She is a real beauty! Am I missing something, front passenger seat only folds and moves forward so far not allowing enough room to get in back seats. My 2 grandchildren ages 7 and 9 could barely squeeze in, no way an adult could get in.

Congratulations on your new Rubicon and welcome to the forum. When I use the latch at the top of the backrest my seat goes all the way up to the dash. My wife has no problem getting in the back seat but it is tough for me. If you use the strap for adjusting the angle of the backrest the seat will not move.

Congrats, have the same model. No one ever sat in or tried to sit in those seats. They are folded in the garage awaiting a wife approved spot for a stained pressure treated 2x4 frame for a small leather love seat.
Space is so small, I could not in good conscience put a people in those seats. Torturous.

The passenger seat should fold forward and then slide forward all the way until the front of the seat is touching the glove box. Same with the driver seat but not quite as much due to the steering wheel. It's still a bit of a jungle gym to get into the back but an adult should be able to fit.

If the seats don't slide forward all the way look for something under the seat jamming it or possibly some small object in the seat slider holding things up.

Use the release lever on the top rear edge of the seat. The seat will fold forward and slide all the way up to the dash, and people can get in and out.

I know some people think there's no space back there, but it depends on who's climbing in. My daughter and her friends have no issues, except her tall friend bumps her head on the roll bar sometimes on the way out. There is plenty of legroom if the front passengers are short like me and my wife  . My daughter rode with us all the way to Salem, MA from Jersey in the back seat. She didn't complain at all. And we've taken the girls a few times down the shore with my Jeep, no problem.

Actually had two co-workers ride back there for a few blocks to go from one school to another. One guy is about 5'8" and 200 lbs, the other was probably 5'10 and well over 200. They both fit and got in and out pretty easy. I wouldn't take them on a long ride, but it was ok to go across town.

These are not claustrophobic peeps who concentrate of freedom of foot movement. Clearly.

Yes the key is the well integrated (hidden) lever on the top outer side of the seat. Pull that up from the rear and shove seat forward as far as it will go.

True enough. And like I said, we are short - I'm 5'3", my wife is 5' even, so we sit pretty far forward, leaving lots of legroom behind us.

Be gentle with that latch... it is NOT trail rated...

Hopefully you are not speaking from experience. I only used mine once just to try it out. I removed my rear seats day 1. Someday they will reappear in my man cave as cool furniture. Until then they reside in a Xmas tree storage bag on a ceiling rack in my garage taking up real estate.

The best part about this forum is learning from others. My latches haven't broken yet but I make sure anyone entering/exiting treats them with kid gloves. They aren't used often which is helpful.

I know I've seen a few threads on here about issues with the latch mechanism, but it doesn't affect them all, especially if you treat it gently.

Ha... that's me. I am gentle with my tools, closing doors, drawers, etc. Always been that way. My 'better' half drives me crazy... she is careless when shutting things, sharp knives get tossed about in the sink after I spend the time sharpening and so on. I guess opposites attract!

Mine broke when I dropped it at the dealership for a recall back in 2021. I got it back and that latch was all messed up and the mechanism had become disconnected. I had to bring it back another day for them to fix it. It's been ok since but I also treat it with kid gloves because it feels so flimsy that it could break at any moment.

Our biggest problem with that has been the (instinctive, probably) puling on it by passengers to get out of the back seat -- it became dislodged very early in ownership. It still works, but it's not always neatly in place in the seat.
