2024 Rubicon 392
Just picked up a 392 Final edition.
Have been browsing forums to educate myself.
I see mention of Rubicon Xs, XRs, etc. but haven’t seen a description of the differences.
Please explain.

They are packages. The Rubicon is the base model in the Rubicon family. It’s got a fair amount of standard equipment. There are certain options that “can” or “cannot” be had on the base Rubicon. I may be off base because Stellantis has changed packages and options so many times the past couple of years, I quit following it. The “base” comes with cloth seats, soft top, black fenders and last I knew the 35” tire package wasn’t available. If you wanted a steel bumper group it was only available with the winch. The Rubicon X was the top of the line Rubicon. Lots of standard equipment; leather seats, color matched fenders and hard top, dual top group (can’t get a stand alone soft top), steel bumpers (you have to order the winch as an option), 35” tire package. Stellantis should have a single Rubicon and let you option it ala carte to your liking. The force or limit (whichever way you choose to view it) options to limit or upscale the vehicle. The 392 is pretty much a Rubicon X with the 6.4L Hemi. The XR or Extreme Off-Road package was the 35” tire package from 2021-2023 that contained 35” (315/70-17) tires on 8” rims, 1.5” lift kit, performance brakes, 4.56 axle ratio, fender flare extensions, reinforced tailgate tire carrier. It was available on the 4 door Rubicon and eventually on the 4 door Willys. They changed the name of the XR package to 35” tire package for 2024 and limited it to specific trim levels. I haven’t looked at the Jeep configuration website lately but wouldn’t be surprised if the offering combinations have been changed yet again. I have a 2022 Rubicon with the XR package. I ordered the vehicle to get it exactly the way I wanted it; XR package, 3.6L V6, soft top, black fender flairs, steel bumpers (no winch available until 2024), cloth seats. Last I knew what I have couldn’t be duplicated in 2024 and beyond. Sadly Stellantis may be consolidating options on the Rubicon and Rubicon X as a way of simplifying the ordering process but in my view it’s a cash grab to force buyers to move to the next trim level to get the options they want. I guess it won’t impact me as it will be a long time into the future before I replace my Jeep; part of why I quit looking at the configuration page.
