Hi, and glad to share this with everyone. Can you post your cleaning routine and which products you use? Can't believe how clean you keep your ride. IIRC you re-paint all the metal when you're underneath and have an opportunity to do so?
As for overall appearance, let's break this into two categories. The first being the frame, axles, suspension mounting points. The second being paint care and appearance.
1) I really dislike the paint Jeep uses on frame and axles...seems thin and as a flat finish looks dull. If you live where your Jeep sees salty winter roads as mine does, you'll begin to see rust forming on frame axle components, especially at the weld points. My solution for this is to wipe down the areas I'm painting with lacquer thinner , mask it and shoot it with a couple of coats of black Rustoleum. I like the semi-gloss finish here as it doesn't show all the little imperfections like a gloss finish would.
2) On the Paint. Here's some things to consider with regards to paint. Paint actually contains microscopic pores (although our eyes and fingertips tell us it flat and hard). These pores will hold onto contaminants from acid rain and such. What I'm getting at here is this, if you want to get the very best finish for your paint, start with a clay bar. The clay removes all impurities from your paint, even new paint. If you've never done this before, you'll be surprised what comes off your paint and onto the clay.
Next, assuming the paint is in good shape, no scratches, oxidation, which would need polishing out, we need seal the paint. For this step, I've been using Chemical Guys line of Hydro Ceramic coatings. These are incredibly easy to use and provide amazing results.
Step 1) HydroCharge Ceramic Spray Coating This seals the paint.
Step 2) HydroSlick Gloss Wax This is a top coat wax for the ceramic coating.
Throughout the year:
- To keep the finish looking great, I hand was using HydroSuds(when possible). This soap is designed to enhance the ceramic coating(s).
- 3-4 times a year I will use HydroSpeed after a wash as a quick detailer to build up the ceramic protection. The great thing about the ceramic coating is dirt has a hard time sticking to it and it provides a warm super glossy shine.
I also use HydroCharge/Hydroslick on all painted surfaces, frame, axles, even shock bodies for more protection. I hope this helps
