Has anybody installed these RSE step slider, but tapped into the signal from the car's proximity system that automatically unlocks the car, to also automatically lower the step? That would be awesome!

What would you need it for? The step deploys as soon as you open the door. Even if you did link it up to the prox key, it wouldn’t just open as you walk by (since the doors don’t unlock until you pull on the handle anyway. But even if it did, what would be the point if the door wasn’t open? There literally would be no difference. What am I missing? Or was this a sarcastic joke?

Then you wouldn't have to install their wiring harness.

I don’t think it’ll work with the stick system since it’s operated by the magnet in the door sill. If it were like the AMP steps that plug directly into your obd2 port, you could probably do this. The RSE steps are independent from the stock system though, so to make this work, you’d have to probably use an aftermarket proximity system.

Interesting idea, but car washing would be really annoying. If I have my key in my pocket, the doors lock/unlock dozens of times.

there's some kind of lock in the closed, and lock in the open position as well.

yes you would need some kind of other wiring solution, but it would be more functional and not look like you just taped a sensor to your door. who knows, might work, might be dumb.

I wonder if it could be wired to the dome lamp. That only comes on when the doors are opened. Might be able to wiring one independently to each side.

If that's the only way the dome light comes on, a simple relay from that source wire would work. Could find it in the dash wiring harness.
