Hey everyone! I purchased my first Jeep Wrangler the other day. 2021 Unlimited Sport.

I bought this primarily for my partner and I to go on camping adventures. However, to say I am inexperienced would be an understatement.

I (for whatever reason) thought you could put strong crossbars on your roof and bam. You can now carry anything. Upon further research I found it was a bit more complicated than that. There’s weight distribution to think about, dynamic vs. static weight, integrated roof rack systems to support heavier weight, all the things.

I need some advice on the easiest path forward to simply mount a 270 degree awning. That’s it. We do not plan to overland, climb things, just simple getaways on some super easy trails. We just want the awning we can set up as we will be primarily just sleeping in the back on a mattress.

@Centurion07 how was that overall experience? No instability? Roof didn’t shift around a lot or make too much noise

This looks so good. No wind noise with the rhino rack? Will be going this route
Minimal noise. Rhino Racks sells the inserts to reduce it, too.

I haven't got a new awning yet. Ended up with a Maximus-3 rack, a Kammok hammock rack, and a Thule Hullavator Pro.
