I’ve never camped before in my life lol. But I’m trying to get into it.
I got a hotel not too far from the meet up spot.
regarding Saturday, are you guys stopping at a certain spot/time to eat ? And is everyone taking their food already prepared like sandwiches for example. Or do you guys stop and cook or whatever ? I usually just take McDonald’s or something but it’s annoying. Looking for an excuse to buy a portable grill 🫣

In my past wheeling trips usually we wouldn't stop long enough to cook anything, just grab snacks. Though I suppose it depends how long of a trip and such. I've almost brought mine as well, but wouldn't have used it. Don't let me discourage you, though.

Once you exit red rock park 5 miles to the right is blue Diamond town with an excellent diner. 5 miles to the left is red rock casino and many restraunts and bars in the area.

My suggestion is to pack either chicken wings from Albertsons (on blue Diamond road you will drive on to starting place) or sandwich type snacks in an ice chest to ear on trail.

There is red rock canyon campground near the exit of the trail. There are usually some non reservable come first serve spots but all the online spots are full for the trip dates. It’s $25 a night

Yeah that’s usually the way it goes, just making sure. There’s been times when we have planned a bbq to do at the end of the trail but only when it’s something close to home

I submitted an earlier application for a Wednesday or Thursday pass. Plans changed, and I need to submit a revision. Processing times seem to be lengthy and pre and post approval fees continue to rise.

The warden just wants the pile of big rocks busted to little rocks with a hammer.

Or are we talking about the cement slab in the back yard that needs to be broke up and hauled to the dump?

Just to clarify, the plan is to run this west to east, right? That’s what the Badge app says. Meeting spot isn’t too far but kind of in the middle I think.
I may camp both nights, not sure yet. Maybe just Friday?
The camping spot on lake Meade Wibornz posted before (maybe in old thread I forget) looks cool.

You might look up on Mt Charleston for camping to get up into the forest and out of the heat.
