Rockslide Engineering Gen 3 Stepsliders - NON-Illuminated Switch

The Gen 3 Steps from Rockslide Engineering come with a switch that has a very bright red led light. The light stays on ALL the time - running the Jeep's battery down. The installation manual even says it won't run the battery all the way down unless the Jeep sits for a month or so. But I don't like having a constant battery drain for any reason. It also casts a bright red glow on the driver's floorboard (which I find distracting and annoying) - the light is the full diameter of the switch, about the size of a dime.

RSE hasn't returned my message asking for a non-illuminated substitution.

So, it wasn't easy, but I finally found a non-illuminated switch on Amazon that is a DPST 4-pin round on/off toggle switch and replaced the one that RSE sent. It works great. Here's the link:

In my opinion the lighted switch is the only downside to the RSE steps, and I've had them on 2 Jeeps so far. I'm probably not the only one who will feel this way about the bright light and battery drain. So I hope this link helps!

Thanks for this... installing mine now and wondered if the switch stayed lit the entire time (since its wired directly to the battery).

Does this switch fit in the RSE holder? That would be nice if so. TIA for any help.

Yes. Perfect fit in the RSE switch holder.

Quick question - did you use the same pinout(s) on the back of the Amazon switch? My lighted RSE switch seems to be oriented left/right (off/on) vs top/bottom, turned 90deg. Please confirm when you get a moment. Thanks.

Yes. Hold the switch from Amazon upright where the on position (line) is up and the off position (circle) is down. Connect on the 4 pins of the Amazon switch just as shown in the RSE instructions from the pic you posted. Yellow top left, Red top right, Black bottom right.

Awesome! Thanks for finding this and posting. My RSE sliders just came in and that's my Christmas break project. Our jeep isn't our daily so it sits quit a bit also.

Know if this would work for gen II steps? I kinda hate that light being on all the time.

This is the one that was posted not long ago in a thread on here. I havent ordered it or used it, I just installed my steps and I'm going to rock the lighted one for a bit.
