Shipping Update from ACE:

I ordered ACE Engineering Rock Sliders for my JLUR from Quadratec on Feb 9th. Today, Matt Kempa says:

" Our current estimate is 7-10 business days. These are in high demand, and we are producing large batches to fulfill these open orders.
Sorry that its taking longer than expected, we are doing our best to get these out ASAP.
Regards,
Matt, Ace customer service"

FYI,

My Ace Sliders shipped out yesterday and will be delivered on Saturday. I ordered 1/26 from NorthRidge 4x4.

One thing to note from my install. The front mounting point was contacting the frame. This was causing an loud creaking sound when driving. Since I didn't want to take them off and grind them down, I just loosened them and slipped a small piece of a cut tire rubber. It's silent now.
Hmmm.... mine creaked a little leaving the dealership, but then it stopped. Nice warm day Tuesday and passenger side creaking a lot. Will call Ace.

Looks nice. I ordered my ACE sliders from Northridge4x4 the other day; I hope they come soon. I am a little worried about my younger kids getting their feet stuck in these. If that proves to be an issue, I am thinking of attaching some plates over the tubes to form more of a step. My question is, whats the best way to attach? I was thinking of welding them on, but that involves removing the powder coat from the sliders (probably a PITA, right?) I could bolt something on, that probably won't look as nice.

I actually had the same question as I want to do something similar for the furry one. I'm not sure what would be the best way to do this. maybe someone who had the JK sliders who did something like this could chip in.

Installed Ace sliders on my 4Dr JL by myself with a 2-ft breaker bar. It is still frustrating to remove the cab mounting bolts because they stay tight until the last few threads. The front bolts are really PITA to turn because they keep "snapping" as if the nuts have serrated bottom and will loose grip if no downward pressure is applied while turning. Also the front bolts are recessed more than the others and in a tight space so you'll need a pry bar to apply downward pressure. But I learned that by apply the turning force more "gently", I can avoid this "snapping" condition and turn the front bolts with no help. Once the front bolts are removed, the remaining bolts are much easier to remove.

From that photo, they look like the outside edge are slightly closer to the frame than on the JK, as if the side of the JL is extended about an inch or so beyond the bolt mounting points inderneath, thus losing a bit of step space.

Other than the creaking , I hope you’re enjoying them.

I’m rather disappointed they’re making noise for ya’, hope it gets properly sorted.

Interesting from that angle it looks like the rails themselves are tighter to the frame (ie mounting bolts slightly inwards, only by an inch, but seems a smaller stepping surface)..
