I’m looking for some feedback on lifts. I’m looking between the RockKrawler mid-arm vs long-arm kit. The long arm definitely looks to have the type of flex that I’m looking for, but I’m not looking forward to cutting off the mounts and doing the welding which definitely adds cost. Does the LA have considerably more articulation? How does the mid-arm compare? Does anyone have any pics of the mid-arm “flex test”? I haven’t found any good examples on youtube of the mid-arm on the JLU. TIA.

The long arm does not flex more than the short arm, the shocks are the limiting factor in articulation when comparing apples to apples (RK with RK)....In fact, some LA kits will hinder articulation in certain situations, (low hanging fruit), especially on lower lift rigs on smaller tires than 40s. Experience and 40s make running LA a non issue, and IMO, a no brainer…

What makes the LA better is that it articulates better, smoother, and quieter less binding at full flex….Also, the on road feel is smoother, more planted/stable…..when off road there’s no rear steer, or crab walking over obstacles…
Here’s examples:
Look at the white upper bump:

In my case, I didn’t want to run any larger tires than 38s (currently on 37s) on the D44s but I wanted to have as much articulation and ground clearance as possible on 3.5” lift….This is where RK shines above all the rest…..Their approach to ground clearance is exactly what I wanted….
Here’s pic of the difference:

long:

As mentioned above, it’s all in my build thread, starts on page 14 I think…..

Sorry for the wall of text, but it’s hard to explain in a couple sentences….

Thanks @Roky , this is exactly what I was looking for. I think my build will be somewhat similar to yours when it’s done and the mid-arm lift looks like it will fit the bill just fine. Thanks for the reply.
