I'm ready to put some 285/75R17 Ridge Grapplers on my JL Sahara with 2" spacer lift.

Specs posted on the Nitto site state that the E rated tires weigh 64 lbs and the C rated tires weigh 65 lbs. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Can someone shed some light on this?

Can you ask your service manager to weigh each tire and see if that really is the case or it's a typo on their site?

BFG Ko2's are similar. The 315 C rated is only about a pound different than the E, but the C rides much better.

I would guess that the construction of the E rated tire is different, but that doesn't always translate into weight. The E may use more expensive materials that are stronger but weigh the same. I'm just guessing as to the reason, but I know that Nitto isn't alone with this. I had called BFG and they confirmed the published weights, but would not give specifics as to why. They only said that the E rated tire was constructed differently and rated for higher loads and air pressure than the C. They also stated the obvious which was that the C would ride better. They also said the resistance to punctures in the sidewalls was the same.
