Reverse sensors

I just replaced my stock bumpers to the steel oem bumpers. On the rear I had to install the sensors from my stock. My question is:

does it matter which sensor goes to which side or are they designated for the particular holes (area) on the bumper?

I believe the connectors for all the sensors are the same, so they should not necessarily have to go back in the same spot.
