Retirees...a ride question.

I'm 78 but not retired. The ride is no problem for me. It doesn't float along like my '83 Lincoln, but I like it.

My Dad had a Chrysler New Yorker it was a tank.
He couldn't afford a Cadillac yet. ??

My 2022 drove harsh from day one, I changed out all 4 shocks to to Rancho 9000XL adjustable shocks and put it on setting number 4. Now it drives so much better, smoother over bumps and very comfortable on the highway.

If you prefer a sponge soft Cadillac like ride, your answer is Jeep Gladiator Rubicon FOX shocks. Not the shocks that come with the Mopar lift, but the JT Rubicon ones. The front is direct bolt-on and all you have to do is change the upper rear shock attachment to fit the wrangler.

I insist that you need to like the super soft cadillac boat like bump absorption. Personally, I’ve been in heaven. Everybody that ride in my Jeep comment about how soft the ride is compared to what they thought a wrangler rode like.

Similar to others- also some back issues, started with a 3A in the mid 60’s, my 63 after a Rancho lift felt like no springs…… now 392 rides like my GC in sport mode (typically run), better than the GC after 35/12.50’s at 30-32 psi. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the GC’s comfortable seats and therein lies any long trip discomfort. If my very hard seat doesn’t start breaking in more than the so far just slightly I will seek professional help for a remedy.

I guess it`s too early to say how the new electric adjustable seats feel or are they the same seat just with the electronics indagated? What would you do as far as professional help? Possibly change the foam or swap out the seats from something like a BMW 3 series or .........

Adjustment isn’t the issue, I adjusted for the test drive, only a couple tweaks since. Same for the GC, but the seats themselves are plush and very comfortable. Some members have said replacing the foam with memory foam helped, Dunno, that’s why professional upholstery shop advise likely…. My wife would object to a swap… or ?…. possibility the new electric seats are more comfortable, I don’t care about the electric, will try them when at the dealership. Maybe the pads can be swapped.

The new power seat bases looks like it has a little more going over each side where your calf would be. I don’t want the electronics. What year is your wife’s GC? Mine drives a 2017 GC Overland and I do like the seats in it. I have just started looking at suspension seats. A friend of mine races a offshore cat in the 450R class and if you watch the in cabin footage they barely get thrown around in 8` to 10 foot seas. I’m going to talk to him when he gets back from Europe to try to get more info in them. Just like a NASCAR seat I believe they are custom made for the driver and the throttle man. I’ll let you know what I find out. I weigh in at 205lbs and I’m also going to talk to my dealer, his brother made a career out of racing

Did you get bottom and back ? My Jeep’s bottom cushion has softened a little, the back not at all. I haven’t tried any pad yet because I would prefer the seat a bit lower, but I have one rearward adjustment left.

I did not get the back, just the bottom. I am tall and the back takes up to much space. Purple is GREAT!

I figured any SRT seat would be better. I’m going to see if I can check out a set. There is a Copart near me and with a vest you can go in and check out the vehicles. Maybe take some measurements and see it there is anything that feels good and is similar in size

Mounting ? floorboards vary, plus electrics. It’s not like the old days when I just cut the rear upright off my 63’s seat frame and Mustang bucket sliders were the exact width for a bolt on. If you find a “fit” please advise.

Our new GC has the latest and greatest Summit-trim seats. Five billion adjustments, inflating lumbar support, and a massage feature. They do everything but wash the dog, and when you’re done fighting with all the adjustments, they’re like sitting on a sack of potatoes. My wife is learning to live with the seats, which is great because the Jeep has depreciated about 45% in 8,000 miles, but I’d love to find a fix.

Our wrangler seats stink too, as do the OEM concrete headrests, so I’m eager to hear about any solutions you find. If they are achieved while lowering the seat height that would be even better — and well worth the drive to wherever you are.

Hmmm- the new “improved” seats stink, the new electric Wrangler ones ? There was a thread where reportedly the padding was replaced with I think memory foam for an improvement. Yep, a little lower would be better, but it’s OK as is. Wheels ordered, will require an adjustable spare carrier and flare extensions so not presently my top priority. Will report when and if though.
