I have a 2018 JLR with 35s and a 2.5" lift. It's extremely capable offroad and even smooth when aired down. However, without airing down, any dirt road is extremely bumpy.

I've been looking at the JLRX with 35s and the factory lift. How does that ride on dirt/rock? I'm looking for something a little softer than what I have.

Have a ‘24 on 33”’s, aired down to 17psi and away bar disconnected it’s great off-road… I run 33psi on road and when off road it can be a bit jolty but not unbearable.
No complaints.

If you buy an XR, you'll be doing what I am doing, which is replacing springs. I have Clayton springs inbound now.

XR from the factory has insufficient front suspension bump travel (2.8" in my case) so whilst the ride is good when off road the front suspension will bottom out on relatively minor bumps at slow speed. Fixing requires replacing one or more of: jounce tubes / springs / spacers / shocks. I'm now at 5.8" bump travel.

Okay, I'll bite. How did you gain so much up travel?
