I own a 2020 jl Sahara.
My remote start is acting up. I click it and it clicks like its ready to start but nothing. Starts normally no drag. When actually starting it. I drive it a bit she will remote start. Could it be the batteries? Ive never changed either one. Bought it used 2 years ago. No knowledge if they've ever been swapped.

A 2020 with original batteries? If that's the case, you won the lottery. Those batteries lasted REALLY long. I'd change both Main and Aux (if you have it) regardless of the remote start issue.

And yes, it could be the batteries causing the remote start issue but hard to be certain without getting codes and/or electrical data.

Its not shooting any error codes. But if just start it drive it for a bit then shut it off. Yeah I can hit remote start and it turns over but if its cold or hasn't ran all weekend. Then no

If it's the fob batteries you're referring to... Usually a good idea to switch out the fob batteries after a year or two, especially if you have no idea how old they are.

If it's the Jeep's batteries...You should get a failed remote start attempt message on the cluster but it really shouldn't matter as you'd be having actual start issues with bad main/aux batteries.

@Waynev01

Your batteries have aged out.

What you are seeing is common place / typical for a JL or JT that has remote start and low 12v.

You would not expect to see codes.

Just your saying it is behaving as it is, is indicative that the issue is directly related to 12v.

It’s typical with batteries in a JL. You can put 5 JL’s side by side with different issues but they all have the same battery problems.

I just went thru this same thing last year, my dual Full River 750’s gave up the ghost after (4) years and it started fine but remote start gave the same click to start but never did, had my batteries tested and the CCA’s were really low with high internal resistance.

Get some new batteries is my suggestion

Try sitting in the Jeep and attempting remote start while watching dash.

Wife's F-150 wouldn't even try to start and was driving me crazy. Has a last resort, I sat in the truck and attempted a remote start. Got an error message on dash - hood not closed. The message went away before I could get to it from outside the truck.
