All -

Finally got some life stuff out of the way and I'm getting down to getting my camping setup dialed in.

Wondering if anyone has relocated the factory mounting channels on a Roofnest Falcon (or similar)?

If you have, what did you fill factory holes with? (I'm thinking I'll epoxy and or glue some aluminum to cover the holes and fill with foam).

The spacing on the tent rails just wont line up well with my rhino rack no matter how I maneuver it. So I'm thinking I'll just move the rails to line up better to some holes I'll also drill through the rack. I may also investigate the Maximus 3 mounts and just use those once I get them in.

I'm not familiar with that RTT but I think you might be approaching it the wrong way. Because it's really easy to get a RR Pioneer Platform to adapt to anything.

What I suspect you need is something like RR Accessory Bars for Pioneer Platform. These bars mount across the Pioneer Platform and can be slid anywhere forward to rear. It provides a standard bar C channel to mount anything at any point left to right. It should be able to line up with anything.

But again, I'm not familiar with that RTT so I don't know exactly what you're working with. Also know those bars come in different lengths, be sure to get a bar appropriate for your RR.

I don’t have a roofnest falcon but rather one of the many rebranded rtt’s of the same design. Here’s my mounting solution using the Maximus 3 mounting system and feet only. The cross bars are just 1x2 steel tube bolted to the Maximus 3 feet. The tent is secured to the crossbars using wheel every weekend security mounts and reinforced with the tie rods (from a shifter kart) attached to the side channels. The factory rtt mounting tracks remain in place for some tent floor rigidity but are only resting on the crossbars. I chose to skip the pioneer platform because my rtt stays up there full time and would take up all the rack space anyway.

I considered those accessory channels, along with the RR universal tent mounts. What I dont like is that they both add additional height (granted that the channels are only an inch) to the setup.

Mtran The tube solution to the Maximus 3 mounts is innovative! I dig your linkages too...used dabble in karting once upon a time.

As I'm getting this laid out and looking at it more closely I'm leaning towards leaving the factory tent rails for rigidity as was mentioned. I'm beginning to think I'm just going to bolt straight through the floor and add the Maximus 3 mounts at a proper place on the RR. Will of course update when I actually make the holes.

Thank you! It’s been quite a few years since I’ve been in a kart too but I still had parts laying around my garage. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your tent!
