Can you recommend a product, a spray that will keep the Plastics shiny. I want my fenders and other black plastic around the Jeep and in the engine bay shiny. My plastic parts are starting to look crappy

I use the all purpose pink soap mix with some water in a garden sprayer. Rinse with the garden house.

I wash my Jeep with a bucket filled with dishwashing detergent and a sponge. When I am done with the exterior I use the same water and sponge to clean the engine and rinse with low pressure water. My engine compartment still looks new after 65K in dusty Arizona conditions.

Guys, quit using tire shine or Armor All. It strips chemicals from plastic that will make them turn grey and brittle down the road. Plus, that greasy kid stuff allows dirt to stick. Don’t even use it on your tires.

303 protectant is water based, so no petrochemicals attacking your plastic and rubber, plus it’s UV resistant. It leaves an nice matte finish, not a shiny, greasy finish that collects dust and streaks in the rain.

Plus, the last thing you want on the accessory drive belt is greasy tire shine. It will significantly shorten the life of the belt.

Some of you will balk and say you’ve been using it since before the internet. But how many of you keep a car for more than 3-5 years?

Simple Green, a soft-bristled brush, and some water (not high pressure).
Agree, Simple Green, a car wash sponge, and a garden hose.
Dry with a leaf blower, then wipe down with a towel.

I don't have access to a garden hose, that's my problem

I go offroad a lot and I don't want the engine bay get dirty to the point where it will be very difficult to clean. So I want to clean it regularly. I got these two tools and they should be very helpful to remove the dust, spray and dry.

I met a 392 on the trail and I don't want to end up with such an engine bay.

Simple Green works a treat.

I have a 2024 392 and misjudged this mudpit went past the headlights

Next day I sprayed Simple Green in the engine bay and washed it off. Results:

No need for expensive or dangerous chemicals.

At the hand car wash, put the wand on the low-pressure pre-soak and soak the heck out of everything under the hood EXCEPT the plunger switches by the driver's side front. Cover those with a rag or plastic bag. I would avoid Simple Green around electrical, especially the alternator/belt driven generator since Simple Green is supposed to damage the enamel on electrical wires. Let the soap soak while you wash the rest of the Jeep, INCLUDING the entire undercarriage. When on the low-pressure spot free rinse cycle, after you do the outside of the Jeep, do the under hood. If you have a caked on filthy under hood area, then you may need several applications to get it clean.

Don't forget to use the high-pressure soap spray underneath the engine, drivetrain, frame and body from front to back. Don't be the stereotypical Jeeper and drive around with layers of caked on filth on your Jeep body undercarriage and under hood. While you may think it makes you look cool and edgy, it just makes you look like a filthy dumb ass.

That's all I got to say about that.

Guys, should I dilute this when using it?

Unless you have serious dirt and grease, dilute it 50%. Don’t let it sit long enough to dry

No SG on aluminum.

I won’t use Simple Green on aluminum. I will use Dawn in a foamer attachment onto my cars and trucks engines and undersides. Let sit. Rinse. Repeat.

I paid good money to oil spray everything. I wash just to get the sand and dirt off the engine and underside once a year.

You should see what tire dressing does the cast aluminum parts after a while. It corrodes them with white flecks all over. Simple Green will do it too if you spray it and forget it.
