Do you need a special reciever, I have a few 2 inch receivers but they don't fit. There seems to be a stop in the mopar hitch blocking my standard class 3 reciever. Maybe I a crazy but I thought a class 2and 3 reciever were the same.

Should be a 2” receiver which would work with what you have. Maybe a loose piece of metal is jamming it up? 2&3 are the same fit-wise.

Wish I had better advice.

That post is very confusing.

Do you mean the receiver won't fit the Jeep? Or the ball mount won't fit the receiver?

I just bought a receiver off etrailer.com and it worked flawlessly and I can use any ball mount or accessory with it I want to. They'll all fit perfectly.

Sorry for the confusion...the Hitch was factory installed..no draw bar and ball (reciever)....so I have a few different 2 in hitch(recievers) that when you slide them in they hit a stop in the hitch and it will not go in enough to line the holes up for the pin. It looks like Mopar has a small weld bead in the upper corner of the hitch(on the jeep) that limits the reciver bar travel...hopefully this makes sense. Otherwise I can post pictures..bottom line the bar and ball won't go in far enough for the pin

If I look through my factory installed hitch, I see straight through to the muffler. Any 2 inch receiver should slide right through. I would take it to the dealer, with the receiver, and show them that it doesn't work so they can replace it.

Looks like excess coating. I would take a long chisel, put it up against it, and smack the end of that bastard with a small sledge. It’ll fix ya right up. Wear safety glasses of course.

I’m surprised that the shank hasn’t broke it off.

Could be a bit of slag as well. The receiver would probably take it right off if inserted hard enough. I would still probably use a chisel to get a nice clean cut.
