I DD an Amigo with a welded 12bolt...14 pnt cage...with....4cy 5spd...55+ mph in low range and 5th gear 😁

You always know if its locked.

Yours isn't locked, or as you turn you would hear a rear tire chirping as it slips..

Oof, that's far from easy.
You dont have to pull the carrier bearing cap bolt.

I used a ball end torx key to remove the sensor bolt without any disassembly beyond removing the diff cover and un plugging it.

If you have the tools, it's more time than difficulty. I was able to drill my old sensors, drain them, pot them, and they worked again. But I would probably buy the sensors if you don't have a second vehicle. I also used the zauto bypass harness with success before that. Plan on doing the front at the same time.

I doubt the new sensors are potted.
That is fucking disappointing!
The sensors in late '23s+ have a different, one-piece molded design (instead of the older, glued cover), so don't leak. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the few, scattered forum reports about the updated sensors failing from fluid intrusion are all second-hand, and based on misunderstanding.

It sounds tricky but if I did it you can do it. @chevymitchell can walk you through it if the link to the instructions I posted don’t make sense. I potted mine but carry the z-automotive bypass off-road just in case.
I have tazer, is there a way to bypass?

Not for the sensor. You either need a working sensor or something like the bypass harness to trick the computer.

The sensor bypass harness is easy.

Unplug the axle. Plug one end of the harness into the axle. Plug the other end to the wires coming from the frame. Done.

Trickiest part is getting the plug to release. Usually there is a locking mechanism to slide. Then push on the release button/lever, usually pretty hard. Even then, it sometimes takes some colorful metaphors while pulling before it comes out.

That's where I break things!
I hate those push to release connectors with a passion!

So id have to drain diff, then unbolt it, disconnect the sensor and put in new one? Then fill new oil?

Yep. But there's a plug between the sensor and the pass through harness. So deal with the plug several times if you swap sensors.

You're borked either way
