Went wheeling a few days ago, and noticed the light blinks, and will engage rear locker when im stopped at a light. It wont turn off.

Noticed no MPG loss, clicking noises, or binding.

How much damage is it doing?

Isn't this similar to lunchbox lockers?

I have about 1000 miles til 100,000, where the warranty ends i believe. That's last case scenario, I HATE going to the dealer.

Is it actually engaged or just the common position sensor failure?

I dont think its actually engaged. I've driven about 200 miles since then, and it feels normal.

Yeah, I'm going to go with locker sensor failure.

I saw that it was $133. So not too bad, easy fix?
Easy, but tedious. You have to pull the cover then one of the carrier bearing cap bolts. Then it's a small screw to remove it. I believe you get a pack of several sensors and have to manually try them out until you find the one that works. That's the tedious part.

Then absolutely do this: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/locker-position-sensor-potting-dana-44.59581/

Once you get the sensor back in, replace the bolt on the carrier bearing cap and be 100% certain you torque it properly. Then replace the cover and fill.

Or use the sensor bypass harness. That is a ton easier.

Arent the new ones potted from the factory? 100% still should put dielectric grease in the connector tho.

Oof, that's far from easy.

It sounds tricky but if I did it you can do it. @chevymitchell can walk you through it if the link to the instructions I posted don’t make sense. I potted mine but carry the z-automotive bypass off-road just in case.
