Do you know why? They didn't have the OPEN AIR EXPERIENCE!! That's what 95% of the buyers want that buy the Wrangler. Most people that buy Wranglers buy it for that. .

And for Chrit sake power windows, locks and Air conditioning should be standard on all Jeep models. You shouldn't have to pay $1,250 extra for AC. It's 2021!!!
Exacctly! So why the heck would you want to pay for power windows and locks on doors that are hanging in your garage most of the time? You can’t air condition the outdoors when your doors and roof are off so why waste money on it?

To stick to the true interpretation of what a Willys should be, Jeep should sell it with no doors, no radio, no AC and steel wheels. It should have manual locking hubs and canvas seats, no carpet. No plastic bumpers, just steel C channel. Leave the airbags and seat belts for modern day safety requirements.

The only options would be a base soft top with half doors and a very basic all weather radio. Maybe spray liner for the inside.

If Jeep built that, and priced it at $21,900, I bet they would sell more than expected
I would be interested that would be a Jeep at its purest.

I wouldn't want to pay extra for it. That's why it should come standard like every single other vehicle in the year 2021.

You can buy one of these, but it’s not street legal without a lot of mods. And not at all in a lot of places

They had to change the front end when FCA sued them, but you can always put the Jeep looking parts back on.

A plain JL, similar to the old YJ SE, would sell well here. Plenty of ranchers would rather have a Jeep than a $20k SxS. They would also sell well in the coastal areas. Even in the cities where our winters are about 8 weeks long and the sun shines 300 days a year.

I have looked at those, as a matter of fact my wife was looking at them about two weeks ago. They still make the original grill just not for models sold in the US.

There is also an aftermarket grill that looks like the CJ5/6/7 for them.

I wouldn't want to pay extra for it. That's why it should come standard like every single other vehicle in the year 2021.
If they removed the option of A/C delete and manual locks/windows they're just gonna charge more for the new "base" Jeep. This happened in 2020 with the Sport S. There use to be a package called "tech package" about $1,000 or so that came with the android auto 7inch display. They removed it and made it standard on the Sport S but they increased the price by $1,000. So now you can't get a Sport S with a basic, easy to use radio, because people bitched.

So you are not "paying extra for A/C and electric locks/windows".

It is nice that Jeep gives us the option. Back in 2019 before this supply chain mess there was a dealer near where I live selling 2 door manual JLs for 25k with A/C only. And they had a bare bones, no A/C for 23k. They sold them all. If you leave near the coast in southern California you never need A/C with a soft top.

Jeep tries to offer us a simple Jeep. to stay true to their roots. But people have to bitch about it.

Have you ever been in an older Jeep? you know why they were so cheap? go inside one. A base Jeep never came with A/C, they didn't have full doors either. They were very basic and thats what jeep owners wanted back then.

But now we all wanna be driving a Lexus. We all bitching about the steering, about the A/C, about this and that. Well guess what. all of that comes at a price. A nice softop that feels almost like you are inside a hardtop is expensive. A hardtop that doesnt weigh over 200lbs is expensive. Full doors are more expensive than half doors. etc....

You all keep bitchin like this and they're gonna remove the SFA and put some shitty ass IFS like Ford did. I am so sick of this whining.

You keep opening posts about wanting to pay less for Jeeps. Well if they had a Jeep that came with no top, manual transmission, half doors, basic radio, and no A/C. you would be paying next to nothing for that Jeep. but nah. It has to be the Rubicon with the internals of a Lexus for less than 40k.

I think you're miss understanding me. I don't want them to get rid of the option to get a stripped down no AC and manual windows and locks Jeep. I want them to be less expensive.

The way they have it set up its not a delete. The msrp for those stripper models is crazy expensive. I have never seen them sold for $25k or less these days. Certainly not JLs. If they where I wouldn't be complaining. They're usually mid $30s. Which at mid $30s those vehicles should be standard with AC and all the power options.

Those stripper optioned Sports should be $25k!!

It's a pipe dream. Show us 1 body on frame , 4 wheel drive vehicle priced under $30k. A base model 4runner starts at $35k...and it's 2wd. These are new truck/suv prices and they are never going down.

Yeah. And I bet that base model 4 runner has AC and power windows standard. Like every single other vehicle in the year 2021. Lol..

But it is 35k and 2WD ?. The base wrangler is never gonna cost lesss with A/C. Theyll just drop the option of ordering a complete base and charge you for the A/C anyway. why is that so hard to understand? They did this with the basic radio on the sport S

And that base 4wd with ac at $40k proves my point, either you can have an actual stripped base model at $30k or a glammed up stripped model at $40k. If they make AC and power windows standard on a JL, the base price will be $35k+. Nothing is free. Giving you more standard options, at a higher base price, isn't giving you anything.

Just a sign of the times. My 2013 base Sport ordered with a hardtop, AC, 3.73s and a limited slip was $27k on the sticker. That was almost 9 years ago. It was expensive then. Jeeps have always been pricey. In ‘86 I looked at a new CJ7. 6 cylinder, 5 speed soft top and soft doors, no AC. It was $10k back then, about the same price as an LX 5.0 Mustang.
