I posted this under the XR forum but wasn't getting any responses so trying here. I am interested in the 2022 Willys with Xtreme recon package. Here’s what I’m confused about: Why am I paying $6,055 for Willy’s package 24W/25W in addition to the $3,995 Xtreme recon package? The Willys package includes mud tires, black wheels, and 3.73 gearing amongst a few other things. Isn’t the XR package upgrading those items (e.g., 4.56 gears, 35" tires, beadlock wheels)? It feels like I am being double charged for those components. Appreciate any clarity.

Yeah not sure how they rationalize that but I think it is a set price for XR package, pretty good deal really. But not sure why they don't reduce say the cost of the add ons for the Willys or even the Rubicon. All I can think of is they consider it an "upgrade" instead of a replacement.

The XR previously was only on the Rubicon and 392. It's the worst deal on the 392. It's a good deal on the Rubicon (replacing all those same things you mentioned on the Willys). It's a pretty great deal on the Willys.

If/when Jeep expands the XR to other trims, I wouldn't be surprised if we see XR cost more on lower trims. This is what Ford is doing as well. Adding Sasquatch on the Bronco Badlands is $4K. Adding Sas to the Base Bronco is $7,300+. Don't be surprised if the XR ends up being a $6-7K addition if they bring it to the Sport or other trims. It's a $4K addition on the Willys because it does already have some of those upgrades in place.

You're not being double charged. If anything, the 392 is the one being double charged as that model already has the lift and higher end shocks. But the real deal on this package is the full package. If you only want a the lift and tires, do it after market. If you want everything in the XR, you are going to be spending more than $4K to get it done. Maybe if you do all the labor yourself and sold your old parts, but that's hardly the same.

Also, did you start the build from a manual transmission? This was why I skipped it on the Rubicon, I wanted a manual (I've had an auto JK for 15 years, time to go back to manual). So.....to add XR added $7k or so to the build overall, not worth it.
