Thanks! I’m guessing the warranty will cover it? I might just have to make an appointment with the dealer this week!

Oh let me tell you how much fun I had with this same issue last week.

I took the jeep to my dealer where i purchased it, and they tried to tell me that it was my fault that it fell off. After about 6 hours a bitching with the service manager I finally showed him how it was physically impossible based on the shape of the deformed solder. So now I am getting it fixed under warranty. Its a fairly common issue. FCA has a service bulletin out saying the glass needs to be replaced to fix it. No gluing allowed, and to top it off rear glass is on back order so I will get it in mid to late Feb. And i'm in Minnesota where our high temp on Saturday was -10 F.
Now that they have the part on order, tell the service manager (in writing) you’re going to use the locktite fix so you have a rear window defroster in the meantime.

I used the conductive epoxy solution after my second back window failed. Now over a month and still holding. I'm not going back to the dealer for this again until there is a redesign.

This is what i would be afraid I would encounter, unless I wanted to drive 50 minutes to the dealership i purchased it from.

Yes, yes, yes.

Looks like it won't be worth it to go to the dealers to get a new rear window if they haven't fixed the defect in the design.

Would epoxying the wire back to the window void any warranties?

I would say yes. I suggest doing what was said before... take it to the dealer which will likely result in them placing an order under warranty for a rear window which is backordered. Make sure they are okay with you fixing with conductive epoxy in the meantime (get it in writing preferably).

Attempting to fix it before visiting the dealer will most likely result in your warranty claim being denied and I recommend against doing it that way.

I’d do it as advised above. There could be a change in the new windows that you can’t see....a different grade of solder or something.

On my third rear glass due to the connection coming off.

I asked the svc mgr last visit what he thought about using the conductive epoxy and he just said why? Just bring it in everytime it comes off, takes about 20 minutes to put the new rear glass assembly on and Im out the door.

When winter ends, I dont have to worry about where that cable's hanging for another 9 months.

In deference Steve I had the same thought. Then I read Nate's @Todkavonic post about the dealer telling the "epoxyor," (he/she who expoxies) to "Hit the Road Jack," and got confused.;)

We should probably put it to a vote:;)

Im not sure if its true or not, but the service manager at the dealer today said the contacts has been redesigned to a "clip on type connector". We'll see what that means or if its true when the glass comes in in a week.

They love factory defects. Easy money for the service department.

Hi Steve0819,
We're sorry to hear about this. We suggest having your dealer address this concern. We are happy to help with this process if you'd like. Just send us a private message!
