I’m looking for ideas to wire lighting into the rear cargo area with the Slipstream security deck. I could only find threads that discuss rear cargo lighting attaching to the rear glass, but I’d like it to be wired to the cabin lighting (triggered on/off with door) and inside the slipstream security deck. I don’t need lighting above the deck.

1. Has anyone done this? If so, what’s your setup?
2. Is it easy to tap into the cabin lighting? Any pics/diagrams of how it’s done?

Thanks!

I have seen the KC Cyclone light used under the cover and added with a switch in the rear area. Ned to find the video of the guy who did the same.

Found it:

Thanks, that looks like a great option! I’m trying to avoid the toggle switch if I can though, or have it integrated with the cabin lighting (on/off with door). I’ll keep searching for how to do that.

The Brawlee light strip is now more flexible and durable with a thick silicone lens rather than hard plastic. I have the cyclones for under hood lighting and the Brawlee on the rear hatch. To me the Cyclones are bright, Brawlee has good coverage and is more diffused.

I have the Brawlee strip that I'm going to add to the glass hatch, as well as a pair of the rock lights linked below that I'm going to install on each side of the cargo area since I have the Hooke Road cargo shelf which blocks a lot of light from reaching the floor. There's a small indentation where these lights should fit perfectly and I think they'll light it up pretty well under there. I plan to wire to the dome light for automatic operation but may also put both on a switch with a diode and constant power so I can turn them on manually if the dome light times out.

You rock! This is exactly what I was looking for. I like this light option as well. Just need to take a closer look at the back now to see what kind of mounting room I have for the KC Cyclones or the Brawlee. Thanks again.

I got some $20 water proof strip lights off amazon, secured them with the supplied double sided tape to the top of the roll bar and connected in this manner. it was exactly what i needed. very bright, operated with the doors or when turning dome light/footwell lights on with wheel to left of steering wheel.

UPDATE - went with 2 KC Cyclone lights as the Brawlee light was too long for the setup I wanted. May go with the Brawlee on the rear window down the road. I ordered directly from KC, they offer a 2 light kit with wiring. Went with the diffused lenses as I don't need it to be crazy bright. I tapped them into the rear dome light and ran them down the driver side C pillar (thanks again @Terrymo for the install instructions - made it a breeze). I have the Diabolical Slipstream rear security system, so the lid is removable while the frame stays mounted. I bolted the 2 lights onto the driver side frame and taped magnets to the wire loom to keep them tucked up and away. This also kept the drill holes down to just the mounting brackets in case I go with a different setup in the future. I ran the wires long by the lights in case I want to move them. All mounting hardware is stainless steel for when I run no top, in case I get caught in rain.

Overall, I'm super happy with the outcome - appreciate everyone's input. Now I can see at night when I'm using the rear cargo area and the lid is on. Here are pics of the setup:
