Nah, weren’t KO2’s, but I knew that tractor was going to have issues when it was delivered. The battery box was between the rear frame rails, rather than a stepbox, so the “Pogo Stick” was so far aft, that I couldn’t cover the lead drive axle with the trailer.

Yep, I was right, it took out three rear windows in the 4 years I had that tractor, surprised it wasn’t more.

I swear, the people spec’ing the trucks had never driven one, Marc’s tractor had the Chain hanger on the Driver’s side, and the DEF tank on the passenger side.

I have seen exactly ONE truck stop since they started requiring DEF, that had a satellite DEF hose, every other truck stop has Only had a DEF hose on the Driver’s side. And Of Course, when pulling chains off the hanger, or putting them back on, you really Want to be on the Traffic side of the tractor, in ICY conditions 🙄

Rock throwing KO2’s was a joke…..
Couldn’t an aluminum headache rack type something be used to protect the window ?
Yeah— even one vehicle I had with the gas cap on the passenger side was a PITA.

They probably could have put a headache rack with a rock screen on it, probably have to be custom made, but just designing it RIGHT, would have been cheaper, and allowed me to cover the front drive axle with the trailer, we didn’t run heavy enough to worry about weight distribution, but using a Standard step battery box would have eliminated the issue entirely, and used stock components, and been cheaper. There was absolutely Zero advantage to the way it was setup, just a lack of foresight

I got an owl 🦉 at “O Dark Thirty” one morning, whose wingspan dayum near covered the whole width of the windshield of a 385 Peterbilt, was really Surprised, and Thankful, that it wasn’t in the cab with me.
I was even more surprised that it didn’t even crack the windshield.

Another Owl I got, tore the hell out of the driver’s side mirror fairing, but fortunately the mirror itself survived.

Another day, I had a Mallard 🦆 Drake take flight ahead of me, and I heard it hit the fairing on the tractor.

I will brake for animals, IF I can do it SAFELY, I’m not going to cause an accident, over an animal, but I will make an honest attempt if I can.

Another one, the sounds of running over a Turtle 🐢, with a tractor trailer, ain’t very pleasant either, I just didn’t have a safe way to avoid him

My least favorite was Armadillos. Like hitting a bowling ball.

The birds in my neighborhood are too quick to be run over. Just when you think they've waited too long, they take flight. I gave up taking evasive action long ago. The only one who was going to get hurt was me.

I stopped for a turtle once and carried it to the other side of the road where he was headed
I'll rescue at least one turtle every May, when they're oot and aboot here after hibernation and for mating season.

This fellow rewarded my efforts by relieving himself on my leg.

I don't have any photos of the common snapping turtles that I've moved across the roads. Those SOBs need to be handled carefully, and as little as possible.

I'd run over more people if the paperwork wasn't such a burden.

At least pulling the permits is easy.

All of the birds I've ever hit were already in flight. One of the most memorable was a red-tailed hawk that had swooped out of a tree line next to the road I'm assuming to catch something in the median but he hit my windshield instead. He poop bombed the entire windshield.

Yep. I took the circuitous route home after that episode, hoping that the breeze over my quads would dry out the denim. It did, well enough, for me to sneak them into the laundry after I arrived home. :)

What kind of home must it be? 😳

What kind of home is it that a man can't stagger in the front door, piss down the front of his pants. Blood down the front of his shirt with a fork sticking out of the forehead? Who brings the good towels to ruin? Who will translate the gibberish into get a trash can? You aren't by brother in law by any chance?🤔
