Yesterday, we received an uncharacteristically early delivery of a heavy snow that stuck well to the now-frozen ground. This had the expected effect on general traffic conditions.

While I was driving on a rural road at reduced speeds, as appropriate, it took me being surprised by unexpected sliding a couple of times before realizing that I needed to reduce the sensitivity of the throttle response by dialing back the associated program selection (in this example, Cruise Level 6.)

While not an aggressive selection when driving on dry asphalt, CL6 was too ambitious for what I was trying to negotiate. I pivoted to the Economy setting, which made the response rate really dull -- less than factory, by design -- but also useful enough to keep the Jeep, which isn't wearing its winter shoes yet, in line for the sum of the drive home.

Your adjustments will of course depend on the brand and the functioning of the controller that you've in your Jeep.

Bezahlen Achtung, meine Herren.

Yep, that's why I always drop my wife's Mercedes into economy mode when conditions are sketchy. Less torque and reduced throttle response is normally a "no way" thing, but not when maintaining traction is a primary concern.

I sometimes refer to the Eco mode on my wife's Honda as Emo mode. It really dulls the sum of the systems that are or may be engaged at the time: throttle response, heat, cooling, fan speed, etc. About the only thing it doesn't nanny is the radio volume.

That Emo dials back the heat was a surprise. Unlike the need to power the compressor when the AC is on, I'd have thought that a vehicle's heating function was essentially free, so to speak.

None... but it pays well.
Manual shifting to keep overdrive gears from being used. Some of the hills I go through will launch you to 70MPH from 55 before leveling off.
