Ok folks relieve my anxiety
My diesel wrangler has been sitting maybe around 4..5 days after last ride, so i go check oil on cold and it showed 75% on dipstick.
Last oil change around 6 k miles and it shows 30% oil life remaining on dash.
Our diesel has 27 k miles .
Any other time i checked oil before always full stick. I did 2 last changes myself and always used precisely 9 quarts.
I went to the manual and it says best oil checked after running and then let it sit for 15 min. So i did that abd it shows almost full 90% stick.
Now why do i have that old school understanding that best oil checked in the morning that it stayed all night long and tgat shows real quantity.
I have had in the past (with my Cherokee) arguments with mechanics when they checked oil level shortly after filling and running and then add oil and then in the morning it showed obviously overfilled.
Thanks for shar your experience and ideas.

Hmmm. The difference between 75 & 90% is not much. Are you checking the oil with the Jeep parked in exactly the same place? Dip stick readings will vary if the the vehicle is dead level or on a slight slope. You have plenty of oil, so nothing to worry about.

There's a reason the dip stick has a range on it. Anywhere in range and you're good to go.

All engines lose a little bit of oil over time. No sense getting worked up over such a small change.

If you have to pour in a quart every couple thousand miles then you should worry.

You're right checking the oil level on this Eco diesels is much different than any other vehicle I've ever owned. I've noticed cold checks in the morning are inaccurate because I had odd oil level just as you found. After running for 50 plus miles stopping to refuel checking the oil gives yet another reading that's inaccurate. I found following the method as mentioned in the manual gives the most accurate reading. Checking it any other way will lead to question and possibly adding too much oil.
