Hi. My first post but have been spying on this awesome community for a few months now.

I ordered my 2020 JLUR in the first week of Feb. I just got the call that production on all Wranglers has been halted pending a new part/bolt for the steering. I wasn't told if this will fix the steering problems but did get confirmation that this is a new part and not just an inventory issue.

I seem to remember something about a steering failure with what I thought was a Gladiator? Something that involved a steering column? I very well might be mistaken? Hopefully more accurate info will surface soon.

I ordered on 2/11, got my build sheet today and I haven't received any notice of this. Any more info?

I just placed my order on 2/25 and may be too early in the process for a call.

Tagging a few that might have some insight or willing to update the forum community. @JeepCares or @PaulwithJeep either of you have any insight or additional info on this? Is it to address the many complaints issues about the "death wobble" or "wandering" or maybe it is something completely different?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

As of right now all the Wranglers that I have on order are not delayed with one exeption. Some of the Diesel Wranglers had a delay but it has nothing to do with the steering. All my gas Wranglers are tracking normal with no issue. If I hear something about this though I will update further.

Your first post and it’s to tell folks that you “got a call” to tell you that an entire plant has been shut down.

ok.....

so.....

who, exactly, called you to tell you this?

Thank you for checking. I appreciate it.

One of my friends who actually works for Jeep. Just to avoid confusion, "plant shut down" and production halted are very different. They can still build Jeeps I would imagine just halting them from being finished pending this part (that is how I understood it).

Not sure what build stage the OP's build was in but mine seems to be making progress the last few days and I have not been informed or any delays (not sure if any of that would be shared by FCA or my dealer). JLUR 3.6 automatic.

  • 2/25 - Order
  • 3/2 - VIN assigned & D
  • 3/4 - D1
  • 3/9 - F (paint)

So they can continue production in a shut down plant?
