PRND Shifter Lights Always on?

Hey everyone,

Just noticed this today. Went out to my Wrangler and noticed that these lights were on all by themselves. I have the proximity sensor door doohickies so I put my keys in the house (in case perhaps that somehow influenced the lights), came back a few minutes later and they were still on. They are the only thing illuminated, nothing in the dash or anything else that lights up other than the red alarm led. I only noticed it today but I can't say that it just started today as I haven't paid all that attention to it. I'm assuming this isn't normal? Anyone else with this issues? I'll stop by the dealer in the morning.

And of course 3 dealerships I called can't get me in until Monday, and the one that got me in immediately said their "whytech" tools were down.

Mine goes out when the headlights turn off once the door is closed

Maybe they really want you to know it's in park before you get out of the car *cough* Chekov *cough*...

They only stay on with the cluster after you turn off the vehicle for as long as you have the timer set for(settings in the Uconnect ). So if you set it for 30 seconds after the vehicle s turned off, they should go off.

Yea mines staying on forever. It actually dims with the headlights but when you get out or shut it off, it will go full brightness. It seems to be ok as it can go at least 24hrs without killing the battery, but i'll be back at the dealership today. They said it's happened in other Jeeps like the Cherokee, and in those cases the shifter assembly needed to be replaced. Hope its not that but what could you do?

So the dealership set up an appointment for Thursday for them to take the vehicle, possibly for a few days, to diagnose the issue. Anyone think a battery pull, reset would possibly fix this? Perhaps a fuse pull?

I disconnected the battery the other day for about a half hour and the thing still had power. Any idea what fuse that might for that module? Or am I doing something wrong?

Had the battery disconnected overnight, but the small ESS battery in the wheel well just kept charge the entire time. Guess i'll just leave it for the dealership to handle.

Weekend update:

They still can't figure out the problem, and the technician is off tomorrow so they won't start back up till Monday on it. Dropped it off Thursday and had a Jeep case manager call me (she didn't seem very interested). They have me in a completely base model FWD cherokee in the meantime which made me grumpy considering my wrangler was more than double in price. I complained since they will have the wrangler for a fairly long time now and the service manager is going to hold "the nicest car" that comes back in on Saturday. He said they're getting a few nice vehicles tomorrow back

Certainly kills the "honeymoon" phase of having a new vehicle, especially one as exciting as the Wrangler Rubicon. Even more so with a FWD Cherokee latitude.

I'll be there tomorrow morning to swap into whatever "nice" car they have and I intend to ask to see how torn apart my vehicle is.

Issues like this are making me wish we had bought a 17 or 18 jk but wife had to have a back up camera that beeps.

Eh, I hear where you're coming from but if this is the only issue I'll have then I could live with that . The JL still is an amazing vehicle.
