Yes that's what I said. It won't even die in a 24hr period with that little light on. I'll live with it for now. Either way, she seemed confident they would get it from the assembly line fairly quickly. Hope that's true.

Yeah, it's been a like month and 1/2 for me and every day,l I look forward to driving it! So many good things, in general and compared to the JK. (not hating, just saying).

Mine was dropped off yesterday for the seat covers but I pointed out the lighting and mentioned your diagnosis. Will see today if they concur when I check in.

Update:

Got the wrangler back today (and finally got my freedom top storage bag and all season mats FINALLY). It is certainly seeming like it is for sure the shifter assembly that is the culprit. It doesn't even light up anymore. When we talked to the technician, he said that it completely failed once he unplugged it and then plugged it back in. Everything works fine again, just that it doesn't illuminate at all anymore. This is kinda good for now since it won't be lighting up anymore aka no battery drain. Also, I got a call from the Jeep Wave Case Manager and she said that the shiftier assembly coming from the plant should be delivered between this Friday and next Monday. This is great news, and I plan on having a service day scheduled next week to have the work completed.

Just picked it up. I think the guy is crazy. Tried to tell me the headlights have to be on auto for it to cut off. As dumb as that would be I can’t create a combination of head light setting and dimmer settings that make it turn off. His theory was that it pulls from the dimmer/light circuit and it was just a silly design. He said it pulled such a low amount of power it didn’t hurt anything.

Didn’t have time to argue and wanted to see how your shifter situation turns out and will plan to circle back better armed. Ugh.


On a separate note the katzkins leather seats turned out awesome.

Update: Dealership got the new shifter assembly, and I have an appointment for this upcoming Friday to get it installed.

Just got back home this morning from the dealer, its fixed! It was exactly what we thought it might be, the shifter assembly. My receipt shows that they replaced part number 68268664-AF which is described as SHIFTER T 21030407. Took them about 45 minutes to get it swapped out, and now it works exactly as we would expect it to.

Just picked it up. I think the guy is crazy. Tried to tell me the headlights have to be on auto for it to cut off. As dumb as that would be I can’t create a combination of head light setting and dimmer settings that make it turn off. If you decide to go back to that same Jeep dealership and inquire about this, I can give you the number to my dealer, the name, and my Jeep Case Manager's number and name. Everything should be documented so at this point there shouldn't be any possibility of claiming this is normal.
