Because yours will have better steering so you have to pay to play. Don't worry good news is you won't be able to hang out with those of us with wandering steering. You will have way less fun driving on the highway.

Matt, as others have said the web prices on the Jeep build aren't what you'll end up paying. They are MSRP. I just ordered a 2020 JL for my wife at Superior in Conway AR. Saw a recommendation here for the dealership and their internet salesperson Kim Sims. Made a call and got a super price well below dealer invoice. I gave my local dealer a shot at the deal but they were almost $1,600 higher than Superior. Placed the order over the phone, had a VIN in a couple of days and had it in our driveway in about 4-weeks. All-in-all a great experience and no BS. You should get the vehicle you really want. That being said, if it's a Jeep Rubicon do an online build then provide that to several dealers and see what they come back with. I don't know where you are in MO, but it was worth the 3-hour drive to Superior for the deal we got and the no hassle experience. Just my 2 cents. PM me if you want any more info on our deal with Kim at Superior.
Depending on your location in MO, I’d also highly recommend Steve Boeckmann ([email protected]) at Jim Butler in Linn, MO. He was right there with Kim At Superior in providing a very competitive quote and could be a much closer drive.

I'm in Kansas City. Thing that's frustrating is that I'm trying to come in at $50k or less, and that's getting tougher with their raising the price. I'd be content to get it at $50k, really happy to get it at $49k. The dealers in the KC area don't seem to want to work with me as much as dealers elsewhere. There was one on the Kansas side that was going to give me $5k off a custom order, when the price was around $54k. This is a VERY high volume dealer, at one point had over 30 Rubicons in stock, not counting other Wranglers. Randy Reed CDJR in Overland Park, KS.

Thanks for all of the help and advice!

With that much cash in, YOU are in charge. Go in with your financing in place. Name your price under invoice with the options you want. Blast the dealer internet sales reps within however many miles you are comfortable traveling to get what you want at the price you want to pay.

What is the invoice price for a unit with the options you want including the ASG you do not want? What percent under invoice makes it work?

I'm looking at the ZR2 Colorado. Yeah, I know, "no lockers, solid front axle, convertible roof" etc, etc. I just need a reliable daily driver with four wheel drive. The ZR2 is cheaper and I'm really tired of FCA's games. I have a 2000 ZR2 Blazer that I bought new and 20 years later it's still going. The only time that truck has ever stranded me was with a dead battery.
ZR2 has lockers, and countless drivers have reported the ride on road and off is excellent with the DSSV shocks.

Based on your MSRP, getting it for below $50k is definitely achievable based on the quotes I got from Kim at Superior and Steve at Jim Butler.

The best I could find after shopping nearly all St. Louis dealers was about half the discount that those two offered.

I won't be able to order until at least January, obviously, for February delivery,so I'll have $36k down. Ultimately, my goal is keep the loan to around $14k, $15k max.

As others have said, keep working on the deal or go to a different dealer. If you are willing to travel to Colorado, I will send you the contact info of the sales guy I used and my buddy just used who gave us both really good deals. My fully loaded JLUR was $47K with pretty much every option...

Which dealership in CO? I live in Colorado Springs and will be in the market for a JLUR in the next couple of months.

It'll be interesting to see the compare/contrast with the Cherokee Trailhawk. That has to be the most capable non wrangler jeep makes.
Yeah, it's a great vehicle - planning to sell it though and get the Wrangler. The first vehicle I ever bought was a JK that I had for 10 years and I really miss it...nothing else can compare with it, faults and all.

The price went up because they make them much better now, than they did at first. You have Tony Fiat's personal word on that.

LMAO. Really? Class action on what? It says very clearly on the site and configurator - "*Pricing and offers may change at any time without notification. To get full pricing details, see your dealer."

Online configurators have never been a replacement for actual price sheets and order guides from the dealer.

Yeah......but the Jeep website and the real prices dont always match. They didn't when I ordered my JLUR. Hard to believe the two sources dont jive in these tech times. Seems like some enterprising law firm would do a class action or something.

Is there a specific reason you're going Wrangler and not something else? There's so many capable vehicles in that price range.
Well, I've always been a GM guy, every car I've owned until now. The thing is, no one else is making a ballsy, American-made, full frame SUV anymore outside of GM and Ford's full size luxury cruisers, which are just too big and too optimized for city cruising, not off road. Besides, I've always liked the look of the four door Rubicon back through the JK. I go camping in some pretty remote areas of the Midwest, Colorado and Arizona, so I need the capability and will utilize it. Becoming a general off-road enthusiast isn't out of the question, either, if I have the vehicle for it.

Just saw a commercial on TV tonight with various FCA vehicles on sale - but the one that caught my eye/ear was the Wrangler sale - employee pricing plus more off. Not sure if that is only on remaining '19's in stock, but worth investigating... (this was in the Western region - Central Cali)
Employee Pricing was less than invoice on mine.
The fine print says EP+ isn't applicable on the wrangler,
