Like several others have already said, I did the PPF on the front end and fenders and ceramic coat on the rest over a year ago. I drive back and forth between Baton Rouge and Charlotte, NC once a month and it still looks new. It’s also a breeze to keep clean. I recently added ExoShield after replacing the windshield for a 3rd time. Hopefully that’ll help prevent the 4th time from happening anytime soon. I can only hope…

Hopefully that will protect the windshield a bit more. The rest really makes me happy I did it.

Wow, even removed the Rubicon hood decal?

Did they order you a new one?

They gave me the choice of leaving them on and having a tiny bit of an air bubble possible because they are raised a bit on the edge and then I mentioned that I liked that the center of them were matte and wanted to keep them that way so I decided to have them take them off. Completely my choice...they would have gone over them. I ordered more and the little wrangler decal on the side and they will put them back on next week when they detail the outside and check to make sure everything looks good 10 days out. They took a lot off. All the badges, the black inserts in the hood and I don't remember what else. They don't like the wrap to have edges where it can come up and prefer to wrap around edges, or go under things and put them back rather than cut and have edges. The decals weren't expensive at least and the badging they just took off and put back.

Ah, makes sense - thanks for sharing the details, as I was really curious about that.

Please post some pics after the decals are reapplied and the first wash is complete.

Looks great!

Will do! I can't wait to have them back on. Looks so plain without them and I love the red with the color so right now it's just kind of blah.

I've done some PPF and ceramic coat on my vehicles.

On my TRX I had PPF applied on the front and rear fenders that are flared out so wide, as well as the hood, and around the windshield. Then the whole thing was ceramic coated with a 7-year ceramic. The PPF is mainly to protect it from brush scratches off road, so the parts that stick out so wide were PPF'd. I can't believe how easy that truck is to keep clean now. It sits in the garage most of the time, and I have found that when it gets coated with a layer of dust all I have to do is take it for a drive and the dust blows right off, and it looks freshly washed again.

On my 392 I had PPF applied to the whole thing to protect it from brush scratches. I made the mistake of not having the PPF applied when it was brand new, so it spent two days in the detail shop having all the existing brush scratches polished out of the paint before the PPF could be applied. I have found that the PPF is self-healing. If you do get some brush scratches in it, then just park it in the sun for a day and the scratches self-heal. You literally can't see them after a day in the sun. I have also found that the PPF is a bit "sticky", especially compared to ceramic coat. Dust tends to really stick to the 392, so it seems to need washing a lot more. It would have been better to have ceramic coat put on top of the PPF, but it is done now. The 392 goes off road all the time, so it needs washed anyway.

On my wife's Gladiator we had the whole thing ceramic coated with a 7-year ceramic.

On our Ram 3500 dually we had PPF applied to the dually fenders. They stick way out to the side, and you are always leaning across the fenders to reach the fifth wheel hitch or to try to get something out of the bed, so they tend to get fine scratches in the paint. The PPF will prevent those scratches. Then the whole thing was ceramic coated. I had to drive it 100 miles in a steady rain the week after it was coated. They had ceramic coated the windshield as well, and I was amazed at its ability to shed water. I initially had the wipers on intermittent but saw that they really weren't adding to the ceramics ability to shed water. In other words, the wipers weren't needed. I turned off the wipers and could see just as good that way. I drove 100 miles on the interstate in a steady rain with no windshield wipers. I wouldn't have believed it was possible if I hadn't seen it myself.

Ceramic coat is very slippery. In general, decals don't stay stuck to ceramic. They look like they are going to stick, but a month later you find them lying on the ground next to your Jeep. Hopefully your Rubicon stickers will stay stuck.

My detail shop does not require the once-a-year maintenance on ceramic coats, but the warranty is still for 7 years.

yep this is how they did mine. Like I mentioned above they pulled my fenders off, hell even pulled the tailgate off and did it (I did not know that part until I saw their little Instagram reel of my jeep). The installer also cut out individual pieces for each hinge, and you almost cant even see it on them. I paid about 10K for mine, but I also did the tint at the same time, and my replacement windshield.

I ended up putting on the black out hood decal. but it looks like this 98% of the time.

I had them PPF the hood, grill, front quarter panel, doors. Ceramic coated the rest. I am not happy with the PPF job and will be going back to see if they'll redo. If they don't want to make it right I will be looking into what it takes to get it off myself. They put the new hood stickers on under the PPF anyway so now the stickers are glossy instead of matte. This is in the Osage Beach MO area.

Anyone have any experience removing PPF?

That's just a bad job. I had PPF installed on 3 vehicles and none look like that.

I'm so sorry about the job they did! I agree that's not how it should look.

I did a bit of research before I chose a place to take it to. They had a ton of positive reviews with pictures and I was able to look at a car they were wrapping when I took mine in for a quote. I also stalked their FB page (which is active) for a few weeks before I went. I also like that they want me to come back every year for upkeep on the ceramic.

I'm thinking about adding the doors next year.

I hope they make that right for you.

Looks like the best way to remove it is with a heat gun. https://www.lonestartint.com/post/t...he most effective,it becomes soft and pliable.

It's nice to find a group of people that take pride in their work isn't it? So rare now. I'm thinking about adding my doors next year. I wish I could have had them done, but we've just had so many expenses (planned and unplanned) that have drained our coffers.

I like the matte hood decal. I thought about doing something on mine too, but I'll let it simmer in my head a bit longer.

Yours makes me love that red!

Definitely not acceptable. They should redo that for free NO questions asked. I have also heard heat gun and steam.

I know Life gets in the way. I still have not done the half doors or a ceramic coating to it.

I did the decal from Pixel decals. The shop actually screwed up (was supposed to have the fender vents but the shop decided to stick the two layers together, instead of putting them on one layer at a time). All my OE decals were taken off and put back on AFTER and on TOP of the PPF.

I know PPF is not for everyone, and it can be REALLY expensive. I decided it was worth the investment above and beyond.
