Tell me if what I want to do is possible with the 8.4" non-Alpine system...

I want to use this harness https://axxessinterfaces.com/product/LOC-CHH2 without a line output converter to add a small powered sub. Trying to imagine things in my head, it seems like I can just connect this to the high/speaker level inputs on the powered sub instead of connecting this to the LOC and then connecting the LOC to the powered sub 🤔

Secondry question: Do the under seat amp racks (such as http://www.metraonline.com/part/JP-18AMP-BRKT) work with 2 doors Jeeps?

That should work, assuming your amp has a high level input option. You might have to do some additional wiring if the harness disconnects all four pairs when you add the "T" portion of the harness.

And for the amp mounts, they seem to indicate it's only compatible with four door versions of the JL and JT so it's possible that there are some differences in the floor pan. Even the JL Audio version states it's only for the same four door models.

Could you get the 8.4 without the Alpine? I've always thought if you had the 8.4 you had the Alpine!!

I just tapped into the sound bar wires in the b pillar with t taps. No harness for a 10" kicker hideaway. No issues. I suppose a harness connection would be cleaner

Wanna stay away from that for two reasons... One, the harness gives me the option later to amplify the rest of the speakers (which I'll be upgrading soon), and Two, I've never had good luck using any kind of wire tap connectors and really don't trust myself with them on a modern vehicle with their Rube Goldberg electrical systems.

That's what I thought about the mounts, but the Metra version doesn't differentiate between 2 or 4 door. My 8.4" isn't factory, but I always thought they were independent options 🤷‍♂️
