My 2017 JKU is soaked under the drivers floormat after it rains. Took it in for an oil change and they said it’s a very common problem and offered to make an appointment to fix it under warranty. I did have time that day and will be trading it in so I didn’t bother. Not sure what the fix is.

Bill 13 is right, any vehicle parked this way with gutters will do this. Nothing new. Some people need to go back to BMWs and Porsches and forget the Wrangler idea.
I agree, but the wrangler should NEVER be compared to a Porsche or a BMW, but because of the price tag it is inevitable.

I think its just the hype and all the waiting for the actual release honestly. People are nitpicking and complaining about anything they can. Yes its the most expensive Wrangler ever, at least until next year. People that have owned a Wrangler know that stuff like this is just part of the deal.

People that are new to Jeep (and that Jeep are marketing heavily to with these types of new "luxury" features) are in for a shock.

Yeah, the price has definitely gotten a little ridiculous so I get where people are coming from. I found the spreadsheet I had done before buying my 2007 JK and the base price was $30k (Canadian). The new base price is $48k (CDN) according to a Toronto Star article on the weekend. That means a 60% increase over the last 11 years. I don't care how you break that down, it's much more than just inflation. Also, I added about $5k worth of options back then and will probably be around $12k when I order the new one. Throw in taxes (which are an eye watering 13%) plus a couple of other small taxes they levy on it and that's a big ouch. They're charging it because people will pay unfortunately. As much as I'm complaining I'm still buying one.

Yea, we bought our first JKU Rubicon (2008 model) $30,000 flat WITH 0% apr....thats never gonna happen again. That said, a JLUR vs an 08 JKUR is a BIG difference. $15k difference 10 years later? well i dunno...maybe actually. (mine is right at $44,212 and its waaaaay more capable and equipped than the 08 ever dreamed of being.)

08 model JKUR sure they had Dana 44s and lockers....but nothing else is anywhere comparable, seats sucked, radio sucked, interior sucked, but damn if it wasnt still awesome....rain water and all.

Where in TN are you? I’m in Nashville, looking for a good dealer.
I live in Brentwood and I got my Sport in Franklin. They are difficult to deal with but if you walk out of the dealership a time or two they will get right on the price. I just traded my 2017 sport away because I want a JL when the diesel comes out. But I got more back in trade than I had in it including my mods and it had 24k miles on it already. Also I graduated high school with the general manager of Bob Frensley. I had planned on getting my sport from them but Franklin got desperate on the last day of the month and made me an offer I had to take.

Yeah, it's definitely a huge difference in vehicle and I'm excited to see all the things that have been improved on but man that's a steep increase over those years. The majority of that increase was on the JK really. The 2-3k bump for the JL seems like nothing in comparison to how much they jacked the JK over those years and didn't really do much other than putting in a proper engine and dash after 5 years.

Not when you account for exchange rate, or did you forget that part of the equation?
Canadian dollar was worth around 1.10 US in 2007 now it’s worth just over 75c after climbing out from the high 60s in 2016, making it over a 40% increase from exchange rate alone and then multiply that by a 1.20 inflation increase from 2006 to 2017, you’re actually ahead of the game if you only have a price increase of 60%, because on the low end it should be 63% increase and on the high end over 75% from just those economic aspects alone, not even changing perceived value of the Wrangler as a widget.

Even just the sticker price from 2015 to 2016 went up many thousands of dollars (about $5K) in Canada for the same model because of a major drop in the exchange rate, meanwhile he US went up just a few percentage points like usual.

Comparing the two price without that aspect is misleading.

Supply and demand has a tendency to do that...although the hike was a bit much...which is why I think they started making so dang many special editions of the same vehicle.

Edit: Wait, didnt Mike Manly show 1.4M sales at the JL release? Im going to need to verify that and research this more.

Eidt 2: actually nevermind I dont care enough lol its close enough...interesting the drop in 2017 though. I guess we were all sitting on our wallets waiting for the JL.

The sill design, and potential for water dripping in is the same on the JK, and the amount of water will still be minimal. Just be aware of it and it’s easy to minimize.

The stream flowing off into the foot well was for dramatic visual effect and staged to show off the flow. The only way you have that much flow in is if you’re standing around with the door open admiring the rain for some reason.

The fact that it does splash on the lighting controls is unfortunate. It’s unlikely to be a major issue, but would still be better to just go to the footwell insteal on any instruments/controls.

The blade figures only show NAFTA sales, not export sales. The JK was selling about 225,000-240,000/yr for the last few years of production.

That “drop” was because your number only shows about 3/4 of the annual figure through to October (or 83% Oct inclusive), with that in mind 2017 was set to exceed 2016’s sales so an increase, no wallet sitting.

Not sure why peeps in here are speaking almost as if they work for FCA..? If there is a slight defect, why can it not be acknowledged by those willing to pay a good chunk of change for the vehicle? It’s not only about this issue, but the potential for other issues if something this simple was not thought through during testing. This could be a one off problem, but that looks like the design. Those lighting switches are not water proof.

I though the entire IP was water resistant, so it could handle rain. By that deduction, a bit of a roof rail drip shouldn't be a problem. However, on a vehicle priced in the $30-50k range shouldn't have this problem AT ALL.
