What's up ladies and gents, I've been lurking for a couple weeks and finally created an account to hopefully contribute back.
It seems that many have had issues with Android Auto not working when they plug their phones in. I was in the same boat with my 2018 Unlimited Sport S. Much to my surprise I had the issue in my 2018 with 22K miles. I've read through a number of posts and tried several things other mentioned with no success. My USB ports would charge the phone but wouldn't trigger Android Auto. So I jumped on Amazon and purchased a USB C to USB C and plugged my phone in when the cable arrived. Android Auto kicked right off and has done so dozens of times over the past week throughout testing.
I don't know why a USB C to USB C would be any different than a USB A to USB C but it worked for me and I thought it might work for others. Hope this helps some of you out.
