Curious is anyone having issues with their android auto turning off and on while your phone is connected to it? Recently, it happens like every couple of minutes, I have to unplug from my phone and replug to start it again. It doesn't shut totally off, the screen shows the android auto symbol at the bottom but the screen is black and the music stops playing.

Regarding Android Auto .....especially, when using a dongle for Wireless Android Auto --> at the very least, weekly take the couple of minutes it takes to go to "Apps" and clear cache for Android Auto, Google Play, Waze, Google Maps, Weather & Radar..... and any other app listed in Android Auto launcher.

Do this and your Auto experience lets call it will be much improved..

What ver. of Android Auto are you running?

Try a different cable. A cable that's just starting to go bad can do that. At the very least it's important to rule the cable out.

This. I was experiencing the constant dropping and replaced my cable with a new one. Problem fixed.

Based on what the OP said is happening in this case, I doubt it is the cable.

For sure cables tend to fail often so cable replacement is one of the dance steps of the troubleshooting process.

That's the first thing I did and still kept happening. I did what was suggested earlier in the thread, deleting the cache and it lasted one day, and doing it again.

One thing I didn't mention - I'm now using USB C to USB C. I have an android and this seems to work better with super fast charging as well.

Have you tried another smartphone to see if issue was also present with that phone?

In the recent past, I've had communications with someone else having a similar issue as you. All was ok and then issue started happening..

Long story short, if he clears caches nightly, the issue does not happen.

I do think, again think, that his smartphone has limited space for cache because he is a hoarder or sorts in regard to apps, pics and such.... he also has multiple apps open on the smartphone at the same time which burdens resources...

Anyway, your issue could be similar... your smartphone has limited cache space for whatever reason.

Do try another smartphone or two as I mentioned.

HUH I'll try clearing the cache again. I don't have anything running on my phone while it's plugged into the android auto other than it's playing music.

Couple suggestions.

Turn off adaptive battery, it's in the battery/battery saver section of settings if you're using Android 14. Your phone may be automatically changing priority for apps to conserve battery which can impact AA.

Turn off adaptive connectivity in the Connections section in settings. Your phone may be monitoring for WiFi/Data connections in the background and trying to connect while you're driving.

Make sure you don't have any routines set up to turn wifi or cell data on/off. Depending on how your phone is set up, it may set these up on its own when it notices you tend to connect to certain hotspots or at locations.

Unfortunately, the way AA and UConnect are set up they both kind of lose their minds when the connection gets interrupted. Usually, it causes a pause or reboot which will make the AA screen switch to something else (usually Media) and back to AA but it can just hang and not go back to AA.

Sometimes, the cable can be part of the issue because it relys on a quality, consistent connection to the phone for AA as it's technically not part of UConnect but supplied by your phone. Because of this, if the cable isn't providing a good connection and power to drive AA on UConnect you'll get a on/off/on experience.

I've had this issue as well. Nothing seems to make a difference, I've tried everything in the thread including updates, restarts and cables. It seems to happen randomly but there are times it's every few minutes. I blame Android Auto as the phone and Jeep work pretty consistently on their own.
