Couple suggestions.

Turn off adaptive battery, it's in the battery/battery saver section of settings if you're using Android 14. Your phone may be automatically changing priority for apps to conserve battery which can impact AA.

Turn off adaptive connectivity in the Connections section in settings. Your phone may be monitoring for WiFi/Data connections in the background and trying to connect while you're driving.

Make sure you don't have any routines set up to turn wifi or cell data on/off. Depending on how your phone is set up, it may set these up on its own when it notices you tend to connect to certain hotspots or at locations.

Unfortunately, the way AA and UConnect are set up they both kind of lose their minds when the connection gets interrupted. Usually, it causes a pause or reboot which will make the AA screen switch to something else (usually Media) and back to AA but it can just hang and not go back to AA.

Sometimes, the cable can be part of the issue because it relys on a quality, consistent connection to the phone for AA as it's technically not part of UConnect but supplied by your phone. Because of this, if the cable isn't providing a good connection and power to drive AA on UConnect you'll get a on/off/on experience.

Hopefully, the OP will remedy the issue... Another option for her is to set up an AAWireless Android Auto dongle.. I've read where lots of users have a far better experience with wireless ...

In regard to android Auto..... Android Auto works great on my 2018JL.... whether tethered or wireless.

Those things are already off. I don't use hotspots so that's not it I wouldn't think, no routines set up. It does act likes it's hung up, just hanging there.

Update: So it's happening like every 5 minutes, I unplug, plug, unplug, plug. I have a new cable ordered just in case. I've cleared the cache's. I've tried my husband's phone (does it with his). Android Auto recently updated on 6/4/24, almost want to roll that back since it didn't happen before that update I don't think. When the screen goes black with just the blue A showing if I tap on it, it says lost connection, ok, then up comes the phone(s) that are connected showing mine. I still have to unplug then replug all over again.

I have an old Garmin for GPS when Android Auto doesn't want to work. I really only use AA for navigation. I normally play music though the Uconnect bluetooth which works just fine and never drops.

You know for someone who loves technology I don't I've ever done that, play my music through the bluetooth.

Try it out, I also have a small thumb drive full of music in the center console. Both ways easily accessible with the media button on the radio.

Are you using the USB port on your dash or the one in the console?

The console ports have been pretty flaky so if that's the one you are using try the one on the dash. There is a TSB to replace the one in the console.

I've used all 3 ports and had AA stop working.

Yes, if your phone is paired with Bluetooth, you don't need the cable for music. You can even get nav directions over the speakers you just won't have them on the screen.

Ditto. Ditched using AA because it was/is too finicky. Use Garmin on dash because closer to a heads-up map position and the mapping is not so commercialized as the AA.. Use the Garmin for Phone and Text. Use the phone (S23+) for music through UConnect. The Pandora station auto-connects after a few seconds.

So far, after 3 years, no hassles or disconnects. Not hi-tech but very reliable.
